porcupine lake. how was the fishing?

never had one jump yet. there stamina is amazing though. they just dont quit. i like the colors they get in small sk lakes. the fish seem to be very pale when they are caught out of larger lakes or maybe its just me. that one put up a very memorable battle and if the hall excepts my paper work i should get a certificate and a patch soon for that one.

this is a picture of a brown from wildhorse lake, which is located in a relentless wind funnel. its very rare for wildhorse lake to be as calm as it was when this photo was taken, especially in april. thats why the stillness of the evening was very eerie, it almost felt like it had to be the calm before the storm, as if we were in the eye of the hurricane.

My fave Bull, Not big, But the colors and patterns were sweet, the Camera shows no justice on the colors/markings...I bet Maxwell has a few pics from the last while???...Max always has some cool pics... thats one smokin' hot bull you caught bh. the spots are very pronounced on that beauty. those lake bulls sure have a lot nicer coloration than bulls that live in big silty rivers. its usually the exact opposite scenario with most of the other trouts & chars. see for yourselves check out these pale piggies.

here is a picture of one of the brighter cutties i caught this year. the gill plates arent nearly as colorful as the one in your picture though.

wow, there sure is a lot of orange on that one tigers belly. where those caught in the fall, Lorney? i made it to the SK for some tigers in the spring and never seen any fish that were that brightly colored.

cool, must be nice to be able to catch the odd bonus 'bow of that caliber heres a few more pix from JNP and another bonus brown. nice fish guys, keep the pictures of those big southern alberta trout coming.

those are sweetest mountain 'bows i have seen in a long time. is there still a lot of 'bows in that lake or are they just incidentals, while fishing for the main attraction, now that the rainbow stocking has been discontinued?

give up? whatever tako, you wont give up until you are pouring rotenone into the, formerly barren, unique world class fishery, that exists, upstream of the maligne canyon.

YES! trefoil lake a few years ago was a prime example of the enormous potential that still exists in these lakes. no inlet stream for the lake to reproduce on its own. no outlet stream for any fish to potentially move out of the lake. the brookies that were relocated to this lake, by the jasper fish fairies, just got huge fast and died of old age. it was the best big brookie lake i have ever fished and spotting huge cruising brookies in +20 feet of crystal clear water in those surroundings was priceless............... the only thing that got hurt was the population of scuds, chronnies, back swimmers, etc......... i dont know why the most productive, beautiful, crystal clear lakes in this province have to sit fishless ,for the mistakes that were made in the 1960's. at least, trefoil wasnt the only barren lake the jasper fish fairies visted.

speaking of pothole lakes without inlet or outlet creeks. it sure would be nice to see some fish stocked in the jasper pothole lakes that used to produce rainbows in the high teens regularly (edith, patricia, christine, and the first lake in the valley of the five).
