  1. Hey Bhurt, No Problem, need some tips on fishin the Bow, just at my buddies house and forgot i had a 13ft Norway speycaster here, a little mean machine it is too, hope to do a clinic in the Spring so will bring the 18ft rod for a bit of fun, THEN YOU WILL HIT THE OTHER SIDE, Its not that you have to, just nice when you can , and now and again its good to just let them fly, nothing better than blasting the line out after a crap day at work, its the flycasting fishing feel good factor. Will be in touch to learn from you and toolman how to fish the Bow. Gordo
  2. Hey Toolman, Not one chuckle , it takes a few casts to get used to a guys fishing rod , was a great couple of days and when you and all the guys got going there was no stopping the big casts flying out past the drift boats, when you cast and transfer that much line.... the rest is easy. Will need to bring back a longer line next time. Hope to get a couple of days fishing on the way back.. will be in touch so you can teach me to catch fish on the Bow. Gordon.
  3. Hi Bhurt, Just arrived in Calgary. got a few rods for you to try including a B@W beast, see you and the other guys Saturday Morning at Southland Dog Park car park for 9AM. Looking forward to meeting you and the other guys. Thanks Gordon.

  5. Hi jksnijders, We will be meeting at Southland Dog Park at 9am on Saturday morning, in the car park. I will have plenty rods all set up for the clinic and if anybody need a shot of one, just bring your waders if you have them and some lunch. Still a couple of places left for the Saturday. Thanks Gordon.
  6. Hi jksnijders, No Problem with a outfit for the day if you need one, i will have a few rods and lines for anybody to try out or use on the day. I only have a couple of Places left for the Saturday Clinic but feel i will be able to help on the day whether you are just learning to Speycast or have been speycasting for a while,..... or at least i hope so after 22 yrs of Teaching on the River Spey . Just let me know if the Saturday is suitable for you. Thanks Gordon.
  7. Still Two Spots left for the Saturday Clinic.
  8. Hey Speycasters, Still got two spots left for the Saturday Clinic, if you have never Speycast before and would like to try, or if you have done quite a bit of Speycasting , i feel i will be able to help improve your casting style as well as make it a fun day on the river . Thanks Gordon.
  9. Still three places available for the Saturday. Gordon.
  10. Hey Toolman, not tried the line out yet.... you must be busy. Would be good fun to have a Friday night session when i get there, anyway have fun, you guys are getting Spey CRAZY. Gordon.
  11. Hi Bowcane, I am sure i have a Youngs Salmon reel in my garage somewhere, have'nt seen it in a while but i should have one with a spare spool, if you want it let me know , i have'nt used it in years, but remember it was in good condition, if you want it...... and i can find it $200.00 with the spare spool and i will bring it to Calgary with me in a couple of weeks. Gordon.
  12. Thanks for the kind words Max, i am sure we will get some fishing done, i will be in BC for a month after Calgary, got a place to stay if you want to come fish some of the Lakes in the Okanagan. Just got back from the west coast of Scotland and the weather was beautiful, i had forgotten just how beautiful the west coast is. As for the Speycasting Clinic i only have three spots left for the Saturday day. Thanks Gordon.
  13. Thanks Guys, Two spots for the Saturday booked and one for the Sunday, looking forward to meeting up.

The Weekend Clinic will be on the Saturday the 13th September and Sunday the 14th of September. The cost will be $150.00 Per student per day . I will cover different Speycasts including Traditional short and long belly casting and there applications, as well as fishing sink tips, full sunk lines. Each Student will recieve a signed copy of Scott Mackenzie's Speycasting Masterclass DVD at a discounted price, as well as a few other products i will have with me. Please send me pm if you would like to join one of the classes or like a One to One day on the River. Thanks Gordon.
  15. Toolman will you stop spending money on spey stuff, i'll never get ya to buy lunch.. $389....... you could have got a whole line for that kinda money. Gordon.
  16. theiceman2, Bought a couple of the XDP reels, Salmon and Trout last year, (they have been out in the UK for about a Year i guess), not bad for the money and way better than the XDA which was complete rubbish, the only problem i have had is with grit getting inside the little slots on the inside of the drag system, other than that it seems to work ok. Gordon.
  17. Hi Bowcane, Have a look for a dingley reel, look likes a Hardy Perfect, sounds like a Hardy perfect, was made by the guy that designed the Hardy Perfect, and costs nothing like a Hardy Perfect. Failing that have a look for a PD Malloch's of Perth, beautiful reels that sound great and look great, i just sold a couple a few weeks ago, and they where great working reels from the 1920's. You will see them on a well know auction site.... but look at .co.uk, not ca or com. Gordon.
  18. Hi Neil, I know the association water very well as its only 5 mins from my house, and i looked after assocation water on the Spey for thirteen years. Right now the river is in perfect condition and fishing really well, both Salmon and Sea-trout being caught in good numbers, we had a little rain which has helped out, and its nice and warm which helps with the night fishing. I was out last night at 11pm and you could have tied a fly on without a torch it was so light, this is the time of year for the Sea-trout, it only gets dark for about an hour. Gordon.
  19. Hi Neil, Its not that i don't like SAIA at Grantown, its just t it can get too busy at this time of year, and there are better options on the Spey for not much more money, to fish the bottom beats below the old spey bridge you have to buy a weekly ticket, not allowed to fish it on a day ticket, or that was the rule last year, i would like guys to fish different beats, not just be stuck at Grantown on Spey. Gordon.
  20. Hi Neil, To busy at that Association for me at this time of year, i can get a private beat for a group for not much more money, i would'nt take guys all the way from Canada to Rapala central on the Spey.
  21. Hi Guys, As some of you know i have been working on getting some of you guys over to fish the famous River Spey here in Scotland, with me guiding for the week. This is just a heads up for next year, i know its a long way away, but just wanted to give everybody a chance to think about it and save up some dollars if they want to come over. One of the thinks i need to do is book a private beat on the Spey for the week for us all, this needs to be book in advance, like way in advance. Anyway there is direct flights from Calgary to Glasgow and i will do the rest, looking at dates around the end of June. Like i said i know its a long way off and i will work out a total price, but think it would be fun, and i will take you on a one day tour to the old Malt Whisky trail in the world. Get Saving the dollars. Gordon Spey Ghillie.
  22. Sounds good Mr C, I wish i could get over for a week or Two, but work it has to be, and a bit of Sea-trout fishing at night, the show , if you make it is really good fun, and it's a huge show. Lots of new toys on show and good fun with all the guys from all over the world, if you can make it let me know. Gordon.
  23. Work, don't speak about it, been workin every day simce i got back, but hey the weather has been awesome as you guys say, not one day of rain for over 6 weeks now, not sure if i'm in Scotland with the weather. Toolman i will post a couple of pictures of some Sea-trout when i get the chance to get out, next week i hope, this is the time for the long summer nights and Sea-trout fishing, i don't go near the Spey til around 10pm and fish til 4am, only one hour of darkness. Going to get a package together for next year so you guys can come to Scotland fishing with me, i came to Canada and fished with you guys, now its your turn to come to the Spey. As for the Vision line, really nice and like i said it never got much press or credit, one hell of a nice line that went un-noticed. Got the big CLA coming up next month. http://www.gamefair.co.uk/ Should be a blast as always, and all the newest toys will be there. Gordon.
  24. Hey Toolman, Put that rods and lines away and get on with some work, the Vision lines never really got much press, strange cause they cast really nice, and make for nice easy casting. Things are moving a pace here in Spey land, lots of new toys coming out ever week, can't keep up with them, but there is the biggest Speycasting show in the world coming up and all the new toys will be there, nothing wrong with the Vision lines though, really nice. Hope you have fun with them, and hope the bloody snow has all gone. Gordon.
  25. Hey Mr C, I will be flying out of Calgary tomorrow, so for everybody that stays near the Airport, here's a weather warning....... Its going to snow, it has to i will be there. Gordon.
