I bet a guy could probably find some dick weed in your yard also.
And some guys smoke too much weed..
My question stands as serious. Why do they need to solicit outside support to cull fish deemed as vermin on a private community pond?
-
Is it not enough that you get to take home a share of the perch caught?
Taking home a pail of stunted perch is not enough.
How much support do you get from the residents of the community on this initiative? With such a great private community lake I am very surprised that you have to actively campaign with such vigorous fortitude on various public bulletin boards.
I do however appreciate your savvy marketing campaign..
Some people eat danelions as salad. Does anyone want to come to my yard and pick some fresh, free salad?

Does this Private lake community provide a lunch for this free labour?

I don't know the specifics on the Rockwall Trail, but about 20 years ago I hiked up to the ink pots at Johnson Canyon with the wife and kids. We made it up and back in an afternoon.
Hope that helps.

Although I agree with you, one has to ask the question why someone with mobilty problems or heart and lung conditions need special parking so they can go for a hike through the mall?
One can't deny there is some abuse (see Lynn's comment above).
My Doc's office is at a big shopping mall..
It goes without saying that people who abuse the system should be delt with.
To say someone is not handicapped enough to warrant the handicapped tag is one of the more obtuse statements a person can make, parking at a mall or wherever.
-
i've damn near been in a few scraps now asking people why they are parking in a handicapped space when they are fine. claiming ignorance cause you have handicap sign is not a defense.
Robert,
Curious how you can visually tell if someone is fine? Heart and lung conditions come to mind.
This is one of the most asinine topics here in some time.

Bad choice of words. Thanks for pointing that out. You're good at that.
Looks like it is shaping up to be the biggest oil spill ever and you say the area will eventually recover?
It came across that you think it is no big deal with a statement like that! You are one of the main proponents of the O&G industry when topics such as this come up, so what did you expect?
-
A tragedy like this makes the oil sands oil look pretty clean.
Fair enough. But whatever happens, the area will recover.C'mon now rickr, that could be said about any disaster, natural or man made. Yes "eventually" it will recover. Flimsy statement of the year award contestant.

Snow Day?
This is Calgary not Vancouver.

No doubt this will help out the random camping situation....

Hey Marc,
Yeah I noticed that spelling, as well and chose the other one...
Nice catch tough!! I stand corrected!!
P
Not a hard "catch" when you publicly correct someone with the wrong spelling yourself.
Thanks Uber for all of the entertainment with your posts. It is one of the bright spots that keeps bringing me back. I sincerely mean this!
Oh ya; it is "though" not "tough"

Tiana,
Of course you mean Lake"Minniwanka"!! LoL

General Alberta river trout - first 24" is 4lb. Each inch thereafter = 1lb. 9 lbs = 29" for the Bow. Works well for many waters, actually.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
Thanks for the formula!
That would make a 34" Brown Trout approx. 14lbs...
-
The Bow is a pretty big river and you can easily get away from the perceived nuisance of the rafters.
Do you fish the City during the Summer? I would not call rafters a "preceived nuisance". The majority are drunken litterbugs with no respect for the environment or any of the other river users.

You betcha, doin' any fishin' south of Kalgree this summer peckerwood?
No canoe trips planned this summer..

It is astonishing how much air time this private stocked pond gets on this website.

Y'all know how sex and travel works Pooky?????????????????

Did he try to stuff this one down his trousers?

This topic needs a mascot.

My frustration on this stems from the fact these fish cost $50 to stock...we are trying to manage for a quality fishery...there are limited fish and they are getting caught repeatedly so killing one does a huge disservice to other fishermen as these big dead fish are a waste on the bottom of the lake.
It is a community put and take fishery; whatcha expect?
Oh and aren't guys allowed to club'em anyways? Is there any size restriction to what a fellow can keep? are they allowed to keep the $50 fish?
I do agree your example exemplifies poor handling, go to any other public body of water and it is the same.

Rose ain't an option.
Thanks,

Don't overlook the Rose colored.

Why does he need to verify it to you? Or your comment about better having a picture, a tape measure and someone to verify it? Some of you take this so seriously it is a joke.
If someone says they caught a 32 inch trout then good on them. And whether they have a picture or a witness I really don't care, what others catch for fish doesn't concern me nor does it affect my fishing in any way.
Great pics guys!
I don't take it at all seriously, hence my joking about it.
I am not the one bragging on the internet of Bow Browns over 30"...
The Cyber Brown, the species that attain this size that is so elusive that no one has photographed one, yet alone 9 of you claim to have caught the mythical creature?

Sundance,
Out of the total volunteer pool, what % have lake priveliges?
PS;
Not trying to pick a fight. My line of questions are legit. I would have to assume you campaign outside of the communtiy because you do not get the required support from the community?
If those 10+ pound trout get out of control and need to be culled I will be there!
