  1. hello all,

i'm looking for the lightest possible boat for me and my two dogs. obviously inflatable is not the way to go so i need something i can lift and carry myself and i'm driving a jeep wrangler with no roof rack. i've looked into frog boats and porta-botes but i haven't heard much about them and dont know anyone who owns one and they seem to be rather expensive. i dont want to spend more than $1000. any advice?

    thanks.

  2. I think the fisherman was in the wrong here.

On another dog note (highjack sorry) I camped near water valley this weekend and was blown away by the number of un-leashed dogs at the campground. It seemed like every camp had 1-3 dogs. Saw a half dozen dog fights, hear about 10 others. One of the guys from our camp was bitten by one as he was asking the neighbor camp if they would like to join us for some beverages. I was afraid to let my kids walk around the campground. Another thing that bothered my was 1/3 of the dogs seemed to be either pitbulls or pittbull cross. Never understood why guys would go out of their way to own a pittbull.

  3. these things definitely work. i tried it for the second time last night in a very buggy spot. my poor dogs were covered in mosquitos and i didn't get a single bite until today about 22 hours after i put it on. if you saw the pitch on dragon's den this winter (they gave the guy a million bucks) these things are also supposed to prevent hangovers but they're not allowed? to advertise this or something. i have also tested this theory twice and the results are inconclusive. i have a couple of friends who say it really works but so far for me it makes me feel like i drank about half the beer that i really did. for example i woke up this morning feeling like i drank about 8 beer last night but when i clean up the empties there is 16 cans and i dont remember crawling into the tent. this weekend there is a bunch of us camping together and i know at least one night there is going to be some heavy debauchery so my full review will come promptly (maybe) monday morning.

  4. Hello all.

Just want to thank all that have helped with both deciding to purchase and leader design. Was out on Friday for the first time (Maligne lake) and the advantages of using a switch rod were pretty obvious. Longer cast using a scandi head which dramatically reduced effort and with the length of leaders we were using (on average 20') no tangles and the fly was in the water at least twice as long as my partners. Landed fish with a heaavy hand with no break offs reducing stress on the fish. All in all probably the best piece of equipment I've purchased in a long time. Can't wait to use it on the Bow for our annual 4 night camping trip in July.

when is our annual bow trip? i've been e-mailing you, you must be too busy fishing...jerk.

  5. i won my buddy's soul in a pool game once. i made him give me written proof and i carried it in my wallet for years. i gave it back to him at his wedding last summer and he promptly thanked me and ate it.

  6. It frustrates me to no end knowing that a B.C. Resident pays the same price for an Alberta license as I do. But when we cross the boarder we pay higher fee's add Classified fee's. Just curious, do B.C. Residents pay classified fees as well?

$20 yearly fee. you dont think bcers pay enough taxes? if alberta charged british columbians $20 per day to fish there, most simply wouldn't bother coming.

  7. looking at getting a new fishing vehicle. currently driving a jeep wrangler but i dont take advantage of it's features (taking it apart and such) and need to be able to put a boat on the roof. looking for something fairly good on gas 4x4 with good clearance and enough guts to get me out of trouble. i took a toyota fj cruiser out for a test drive and quite liked it. anyone have an opinion? will probably buy used to keep the price around 20 grand.
