I would agree a 34lbs would work great.A 40lb motor starts to get a little heavy.

1lb of thrust=1 amp/hr, most batterys are 120amp/hr so a 30lb motor going full blast will kill a battery in 4hrs approx .Thats a 12volt.But remember you shouldn't drain your batterys past 50%.

Well i have made a couple dozen so far and i really like it .A 19mm impack socket added on made it balance real nice .Works well for rapping weight ,wire and bodys in general.I could see how an auto bobbin would speed things up but just hanging a normal bobbin works fine too ,i only seem to turn it 6-7 times a fly.I think my next mission is to purchase the fine point jaws ,then make a smaller spining head to attach too.I think it may just look and work a little better.

Well after some thought 300$ is just a little to much for me right now so i thought i would try and build my own .I had some bearings and scrap metal laying around ,took apart my old vise and came up with this .Ugly as hell but it works,just need to add some counter balance weight.At least it gives me an idea what its like to tie with a rotary

[Knot Tool Question]

This the one i use Peter ,the little "V" notch in the end is what makes it easy Once you have made the knot pull it off with a sharp pull onto your fly line .It also works well for nailing your loops.I like the shrink sleeve idea for loops or just wrapping thread .

i don't think you actually need to register for the warranty to be effective in canada. i've had 2 sage rods repaired under warranty neither of which was registered.

Hooked with mark krupa is a good one and SFOTF is also good .Most all fly shows are geared to the beginner .I cant stand listing to that Bill guy on New Fly Fisher .SFOTF is more real fishing than others ,doesn't have so much teaching .Sportfishing BC is also ok ,but some of the earlier shows where better .
