  1. I dunno Weedy. That country is a lot more untouched than most of the 'bou country over here. From my experience, it's mostly forest. I didn't pay enough attention to the wildlife issues during my stay, but it seemed to me like a lot of the immediate ares the caribou use are protected from development. I hate to say it, but poison works better than fencing cut lines.....and anyone who wants to cite Farley Mowat as a reliable source of wolf knowledge.....skeptical I am.

There is a good point in one of those biased articles about reforestation and making the area more suitable for moose. Moose are probably as bad for caribou as wolves are.....

  2. Ya its like highlander says. I paid $37 for my straight license. Then you gotta add CW (never have) and steelhead stamp, and chinook stamp (only if you wanna keepum, I don't).....list goes on for stampage

I cross the border and pay $22 for everything in AB. ROCK ON! I figure it should be doubled, and stamps for vulnerable areas EG: those cutts that just got listed. Pay to play, and as long as they money goes to the right places, I'm down for it.

  3. I drilled two holes (in the ice) at the end of the dock and have been facinated watching the fish in 6 feet of water...just like a giant aquarium. In reading the literature there seems to be a well documented migration of yellow perch into the shallows to feed just before dark.

Yesterday I fished for a good part of the day and saw no perch until 8 pm. By 8:45 pm there were tons and biting fast and furious. By 9:30 to 10 pm the action was crazy and then died off when I could not see well.

Very interesting cause I tended to catch any perch while flyfishing at dusk and that is when they are coming up to the shallows.

Trout seem to be in good shape but the perch numbers have definitely exploded. Caught a nice 18 incher on Sat and a few 16 inchers and a very nice looking 16 inch male on Sun.

I hope you mean trout

Cool to know. Do you think their migration times will change as the days get longer??

  4. I'm not going to debate this, but bull trout have 19-24 branchiostegal rays and Dollies have 24-29. Take a picture and count next time you catch one. Shouldn't be any native Dollies in AB. Two different fish species as far as I'm concerned, lol.

Where to fish! Taco, you've played up there!
