  1. Yes, they grow faster. Typically not by much, because most lakes are overstocked. If you took two barren lakes with an established aquatic food base and put the same number of AF3N trips in one, and diploids in another, you would notice a difference in growth. Problem being, noone has done this on the ground, and I hope they do soon. There's going to be 30 or so lakes like Silkstone and Lovett created near Coal Valley in the coming years. Those lakes could be one heck of a playground for seeing what works and what doesn't.....

  2. Thats cuzz we have bigger fish...LOL.:rolleyes::P

Iam just givin Tako a hard time cuzz he gave me a hard time the other day...Its all in fun!

I did!? I forget things fast  You been warned. The first time a good solid triploid takes you for a ride you'll blink a couple times! I know I did. Then you'll crap your pants when you find out that fish that rallied 60 feet of line n backing out was only 16"

  3. Tako, that is amazing growth. I would suspect that was in a lake with relatively low numbers of fish, or one that was previously devoid of fish. It would take a fantastic scud population (or something as good) to grow fish that fast. Bullshead is a well established fishery with a history of excessive stocking numbers. I think there is too many fish for the kind of growth rates you are talking about. What was the history of the lake where you saw 3 pounds added in a year?

Bullshead is an amazing fishery, don't get me wrong. But wouldn't another couple of year classes be exciting!

Devoid of fish. It was an exceptional circumstance. However, 3N rainbows can put on ridiculous weight in one year. Here is a pic of a yearling Dragon AF3N Pennask. 13" chrome bullets. Tough to hold onto on a 5wt

  4. Tako,

Homework has been done and I have graduated with pretty hight marks up in the Terrace/Kitimat/Queen Charlotte/Skeena area winter and summer run... Yes it is redic up there no doubt realtively untouched as far as pressure goes no doubt. Is he running gear or flys? Just seems 12 chrome to the beach is pretty lucritive per day..

The day they beached 12 it was on a combo of gear and fly, depending on the water available. Biggest fish was 22# on a river you have likely fished, if you've played on most of them.

  5. Courtney......Whats wrong with a 12 LB chromer......Still gonna tape out @ the 34" neighbourhood....Not bad @ all in my view... but then again my view @ the moment is seeing a 24"+ trout as a hog.....so take that with a grain of salt.. Sure looks gin clear out there...making the winter game that much more of a challenge.. Don't know what i rather have a blown out river with about a foot of vis or gin clear conditions... Both types of conditions are a challenge in there own way!! Tako I wish I could swing T-8 with a pink bunny and land a dozen steel in a day!!!! What system is he fishing??

    Region Six :D

QCI is redic. My buddy went home to QCI for christmas and landed over 40 in a few days. He said he smallest was 8lbs, biggest running to around 20 (42"). My other buddy fishes a lot of water out of Terrace. Can't say what rivers, but if you do your homework, there aren't many secrets out there.

  6. Yeah, and the skeena systems get bigger runs.

When i was on the island, it was a week of tossing 20 feet of T-14, a couple foot leader and big, big intruders. Not easy to do, but eventually you get into a good rhythm and hit one.

Sure was more gorgeous then anywhere else i've fished so far

Compared to my buddy who swings a ten foot T8 with a pink bunny strip on the _ _ _ _ _ , lands a dozen steelies in a day and goes home.
