  1. I once hooked a loaded tackle box by the handle out of Allison hole on the Vedder river. Fished a big yellow slide out of the Bow after runoff one year, my kid's still use it today. Dave
  2. Southbow has some in stock ,seen it on the wall today
  3. Hey guys Ive been on the Bow alot lately seen the temp up around 65 67 degrees. It is time to get those fish in quicker than we had to two weeks ago. Ive seen to many big rainbows floating / bloated up on the surface, sad but true, in the last few days. Be extra careful around the weeds, the trout get wrapped around the roots and then snap tippets and with the trout still wrapped and trapped and of course leads to a dead trout. When this happens I hope you spend some energy trying to find out where that trout busted you off, because guaranteed, that soon to be dead Trout wishes you did.
  4. Go swim around in the helliport hole and don't freek out and drown when a 40 lb northern starts chasing your ass around, or when a 8' great white sturgeon swims up beside you. believe me its pretty cool,. but scary. Also keep your eyes open for some huge Lakers and of course dead bodies their always fun. Let us know, dont forget your air tanks and snorkels. So cool. oh yah watch out for the rebar!!!

  8. Let me introduce you guys to Francois Blanchet ( Frankyb). 29 yrs. old who is FFF certified .He is a fun energetic instructor, who preaches minimizing your effort while casting. And adapting your casting to your body.He teaches all aspects of flyfishing but casting two handed rods is his "speycialty". He is known as a clean and stylish underhand caster which he calls "scanadian". His species of choice to target are Atlantic Salmon, Trout, and wild Steelhead. His guiding areas ranges from Quebec's Gaspe peninsula to the southwestern BC, and the steelhead streams in the Skeena River system and is constantly exploring remote rivers such as the streams in the Queen Charlottes. he also done some fishing in Rio Gallegos in Argentina. He is also looking to fill some winter guiding days on the Yakoun in the Queen Charlottes, tho he is sold out on the Bulkley this fall. This is a guy ,who sometimes fishes with hookless flies. "There is nothing like watching fish smacking a fly aggressively and releasing it without hurting itself" His course is a full day including most of the Loop rods from single hand to double hand. Also bring your own its important to Franky that people can cast their own set up or at least let him make sure it is a match. You will start the day with single handed casts followed by the two handed rod in every style of casting. Every aspect of casting will be covered: changes of direction, the use of sink tips, the presentation, proper line management, adapting your casting to your body, distance casting and of course how to make it look good with no effort. Courses are for 7 guests. Lets sell this course completely out and learn from one of the smoothest casters you will ever meet. The course will be in the first week of August so get a hold of Frank at frank@outdoorsportcanada.com or call Southbow @ 403 873 0744 or email the shop mike@southbow.ca
  9. Last year i had a day spent on the Bow hanging out with Dan, his side kick for the day was Denise Maxwell, also two great anglers from Italy's world flyfishing team. If you want to talk about pressure ,of course Denise nine time World champion caster, one of the top guides on the Bulkley River , she was so laid back ,no pressure. Dan was such a simple guy who has a knack for teaching and making it easy, we spent more time laughing than catching. He helped myself become a better Scandi caster within minutes. I would highly recommend this course for anyone who wants to become a better two handed caster, it will be fun . Dan is a Knowledgable instructor with all the fff certificates, Dont miss this one with Jack Cook . Wanna know something about making your own fly lines to building awesome flies talk to Jack. Im looking forward to spending a late night on the Bow with Dan and Jack

  17. The last few nights we,ve been watching this angler at policeman catchin fish with a centre pin rod and reel catchin all sorts of trout, the first night i asked him what he was using, he says san juan, stoneflies, etc. good answer. there again tonight ,my buddy ask the same question he gets the same answer. sj. stones etc. sees him toss a decent size fish in the bushes. my buddy calls the fish cops . BUSTED with bait in possesion, dew worms , to many fish all oversize. his friend BUSTED no license. As far as im concerned These Fu##$ should go to the can to get pissed on. These are the same guys that hang out in the city all winter long ,talking to us fly guys about the great day they had fishing. but when we come along they tie on a stonefly, pink bubblegum worm, bowriver bugger. But today he was caught with a bare bait hook on the end of his line. HAHA. Lets keep our eyes open and study these pri#@#s .They are killing our wild Trout streams. Good work eagle :$*%&:
  18. so , i see you posing with that bonefish and your rod is in your left hand ,so i guess you reached for that fish with your right hand. for a guy that doesnt switch. hmm. just my thought . no harm intended. right is right and left is
  19. if you could not reel fast enough maybe you are reeling with your wrong hand. just my thought. my reply might start a war of words. this might be fun. lets let all the pros answer this one.
  20. The older experienced guides Lorne, Fred call them Double tie downs. Terry called it right tho, it is a full back nymph tied down in the middle. The pattern i know is a brown hackle palmered over a body dubbed with red seal. seal is most important according to the most knowledgable guides in the area. Try fishing with some minnow patterns tied with Polar bear as well. deadly
  21. serendipity tied with clipped deer hair in black or palomino midge, black
