  1. Some shots of the different colorations of the fish at bullshead this year. From dark purple spawning colors, to crowsnest olive, to silver bullets. Sorry for the quality. Taken from my phone.
  2. Here are a couple of articles on the site, my Nymphing Primer (I've only been fly fishing a few years, and wrote down what I think I've learned), and Castuserraticus's hydrology article: Nymph Primer Flowing water in 3d There is also a trip being auctioned by Maxwell on the Streamwatch auction site. If you take a trip with Max you will significantly shorten your learning curve to nymphing the bow, or however you choose to fish! Good luck and welcome.
  3. Southern Alberta Walleye Tour (a guess). This is a great idea. Hope someone does jump on this!
  4. Several new items on the auction page. Check 'em out! And the Elk River float trip closes tonite!
  5. New item on the auction page! And several items closing in one hour.
  6. Uhh,ooops? Did not even think about who was winning, just that I wanted to try to raise more money. Specifically, I want to raise more money than Taco! And its not just mine closing, there are some unreal deals still available.
  7. Several items ending tomorrow, get your bids in! And let me pitch my own Panorama trip: We can fish whatever suits your fancy. We can do tiny headwaters up to some incredible classified waters. Last year, about 1/2 of our fishing was on familiar water, and 1/2 was pure exploratory. But the trip is yours to call as you will. Whatever you choose, I can promise some unreal scenery and hopefully some fishing to match! Oh, and I have a brandy new topo GPS that may come in WAY handy!
  8. New Item! Fishing at Lake Bonavista with dune, item 15. And stay tuned, there are several great new items to come mid week!!
  9. I'd consider it, except he knows a lot about some of those southern streams. Tell ya what, let's go fishing with him, pick his brain, and then ban him!
  10. I hated that opinion. Terry should not be given a forum to espouse his revolutionary views. Freedom of speech for those who think differently? The horror. That could lead to freedom, and lord knows we don't want that. So it came from a pinko lefty? Gotta love those pinko lefties. Bet your bottom dollar Rush never said anything like that!! Or Anne for that matter!!
  11. I'm ex-military. Was told never to go. Still listening to orders after all these years. Sorry for the hijack Liam. Hell of a video.
  12. Thanks for posting that. Wish I could go to Cuba. Stupid American rules.
  13. Closing notices on items 1-5 for 10 PM on Wed, Mar 31.
  14. Good luck with that James! My daughter looks at me like I just grew a third eye anytime I ask her to come fishing!
  15. Just copied that from the streamwatch thread. There are some great trips available, with more still to come! I was thinking the same thing about the community lakes. I know there are a couple of folks on Sundance (come on boys!), and I think some live in McKenzie. I would offer Chaparral, but I never know how it is going to fish. Sundance and Mckenzie are both superior. Here is a link to the auction Auction Thread
  16. There are new items up for auction, have a look. We are starting to get donations from companies as well! Remember, the donation does not have to be fishing related. This is a great cause. Anyone who can donate, please do. The rest of you, BID!!
  17. Schaweet!! Guideline rod? If it isn't and it is a really expensive rod I don't recognize, I apologize! If it is, how do you like it? I test drove one for a couple of trips and really liked it.
  18. thanks guys. I'll let this run for a bit to see how much interest there is.
  19. Hey guys, Last couple of years, many of the members of this forum have donated their time or flies to the streamwatch auction. I've noticed that there hasn't been anything this year. If any of you have some spare time, it is a great cause. I did have one idea. Could we make an auction item along the lines of a swap, but instead of sending them to each other, you send them to me and I put them up for auction? I haven't been involved in a swap, so I really don't know how it works, but it was an idea I had..... Thanks!
  20. Depends on the size of the stream, and difficulty to get to. The smaller/harder it is, the more I am liable to be devastated if I see another vehicle. Because I would probably leave. I made a long drive with Taco to some small water last summer. We got there and there was a camp set up. Panic started to set in. Fortunately, 2 of the people were at the camp and said everyone was fishing downstream and upstream was open (or the other way around, can't remember). Don't know what we would have done if they hadn't been there, maybe guessed and hoped. But we might have just left. Some of the places, run hopping just won't work due to cover, bank type, etc. Sucks sometimes, but it's part of the deal if you fish semi-remote.
  21. I have the 10ft 5wt wind warrior a buddy of mine custom built. I love it. I also fish a ton with the shop rod from Hanson's. It is a 6 wt, 9 ft called the Traveler. Fairly fast, handles heavy nymph rigs with ease. I don't really have a go to between the two, I just use whichever I feel like fishing with that day.
  22. No, but they'll work there too!! They are killer dead drifted right now on das Bow.
  23. Little black leaches.
  24. I don't think there is an actual answer to the question. All the fish I caught up until Saturday were in water much like Uberfly mentioned, and speed was more important than depth. I did fish faster water, both deeper and slower, with nothing to show for it. The best example was Saturday. There were fished stacked up in a 3-4 foot slow moving trench. There is great water all around it, but all the fish were in the trench. But after reading trailheads post, my experience isn't the rule. While I did not find any in fast water, they obviously are moving into it in places. Welcome to transition time!
