Hell, I'm glad I only have to read 'em... Rick, you probably don't need a headlamp when you fish at night, you just glow...
-
Ohhhhh I WANT that jacket BAD!!
-
you headin' to the Bow on fri then?
-
We only work half day fridays and since the parade is in the morning, we get that off so it turns into a whole day. I'm planning on hitting the Bow after I drop the wife off at Mount Royal at 7:30. So it's a 3-day week for me...2 long weekends in a row, and of course, next week is Stampede Vacation (at work but not AT work if you know what I mean) Hey rickr, you forgot the $15/day lunches too (before tip)
-
You know, odds are that this idiot will keep doing the same thing...you could cut off both his arms and he would still find a way to do it. Seems guys like that are just too stupid and won't stop no matter how many beating they get.

As far as sharpness of hooks, all brands seem to sink into my hand/fingers equally well.

Wow, too bad this stuff has to happen on the river... I'm sure F&W was busy as ever this weekend...passed one headed north in a hurry on hwy 22 yesterday. I don't know what I'd do in that situation, so I will not judge, but I would love to have seen the guy explain "his rights" to a CO...I like how he is blatently disregarding the law, yet you hit him with a jar in the beak and all of the sudden he's threatening you with the law....how ironic! BRW, anybody have any luck on the Oldman yesterday? I was east of the Waldron and we got nothin' in 3 hrs. I could see 'em in there, but I used everything and they wouldn't even move!! I suppose I was in on the tail end of some pretty intesnse angling pressure...there was a school of suckers that were cuising around in this spot I was at too....big black line on the side of em...I assume they were suckers as I don't know what else they could've been. Anyway, all I got was a brutal sunburn on my castin' arm!!

Dave, do you even fish anymore? haha Geez, pretty soon this forum is going to be called Dirtbike Calgary...either that or you're going to leave us for a dirtbike forum. Hey and why no blue jersey when riding? I suppose that's only a fishing technique.

Who's Heading Down South For The Long Weekend?

Hey birchy, don't know if you're camping at Kikomun, but that lake there and more to the southeast have smallmouth bass in em (mabye check regs to see if they're open)....take a big bully fly and let me know how it works out....I've caught one there on a spinning rod and they fight pretty good!! I'm headed south, but I don't know if I'll be fishin'...we'll probably scope it out and go from there...stayin' at my parents in Claresholm anyway. -
Greg, my brother does custom designed furniture and he said that you can't even buy Honduran mahogony anymore. My uncle has a couple tables made out of it and my brother was trying to get some and he had to go with something different. So that guitar is probably worth quite a bit based on the wood alone, plus how many of the 400 are really still around...Cool guitar to have man! I popped into that shop in the Pass that's right on the highway (don't think it's there anymore) and we got talking to the guy and he busted out this guitar he had made himself...it was awful looking, but it had one of the best sounds and tone I've ever heard from a guitar. He also had rigged up a huge homemade pickup before you could even get that type of thing for acoustics.
-
Randy: I don't know if I agree with you on not needing a humidifier for guitars build in Canada. I have a Garrison G30 and the top has cracked right up to to the saddle and then a bit more on the top. As for that buzz, could you also not get the frets filed down to high precision. I know a guy that has all his frets filed down on all his guitars..acoustic, classical electric, his guitars play awesome and flawlessly plus he is the best player I have ever played with/watched play. I have never really had the money to get it done (about $100 was the price at the time), but I it would be worth it...The action on those guitars was soo low and there wasn't a buzz on any string on any fret. Although my Garrison cracked (and of course I haven't taken it in to the shop) I love the tone and sustain that it has. Harmonics seem to resonate forever, and are soo crisp and clean.

My dad has caught a couple big rainbows in Bertha, we saw guys fishing at Crypt when we were there, but be warned it's not just a leisurely hike and you have to take a boat over and most importantly make it down in time to take the last boat back to the townsite. We've also fished at Wall lake and I caught some small cutties in a little inlet. My dad hiked in to snowshoe cabin and I can't remember which way he went but he found some small falls with brookies sitting in the pool below. I think there's brookies in Crandell, but I've never been there, been to Cameron lake but never fished it. I think the Waterton River has rainbows in it and of course the big lake has some huge lakers if you can dredge them up from the depths. Barry Mitchell's guide has a bit of stuff on Waterton.

Which Species Of Trout Fights The Hardest?
vhawk12 replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
All valid points, but I think Livingston and area cutties consistently fight larger than their size. They are always fiesty and when I get 'em in they're almost always smaller than I thought they were on the line, and I usually use a 6wt. up there. -
Thank god for image stabilizing digital cameras huh? If I took that pic with my 35mm it would've been blurry as hell from my hands shakin' lol.

Most poachers sucessfully reported? (possibly a season-long thing with monthly prizes) Toolman prob will have that one sewn up.
-
I don't understand why they asked you to go back to make sure so that they would avoid a wasted trip....why would it be a wasted trip?...if they weren't in fact poaching, they could still cruise the area checking licenses of other people fishing in the area...I think that they should dispatch someone as soon as they get a call they feel is serious....if they keep calling you going..."are they still there...are they there now...now?...ok we'll send someone" then the better the chance that the poachers will finish for the day and leave. Maybe a bad comparison, but if you call 911, they get the info and send someone...they don't call you back in a half-hour and say, is that femoral artery still bleeding? Anyway, congrats on the "catch" and I hope we can all do our part in reducing poaching and increasing awareness for our addicion.

You can thank Pronger, not Lowe, for screwing around on his wife and getting caught so she made him demand a trade that was his "personal issues" he had, plus she didn't like living in Edmonton...was not similar to the Smyth trade. The Ducks will ice most of the same guys, but they said last night that guys like May and Selanne will probably be retiring...I wouldn't be surprised to see Pronger, the Niedermeyers and some of the other older guys retire . They do have some young talent...Getzlaf, Perry, and Penner etc. so they still have good roots for sure.

-I don't care what the Americans "see"....in general (ie. not all) they are clueless about hockey anyway. -I cannot stand Gary Bettman. -If Gary Bettman can promote hockey in any way, anywhere then that's good for hockey, plain and simple. It will always be our sport in Canada (unless Lacrosse takes over!) -Congrats to the Niedermeyer boys, I think that's awesome, once again the cup will come to Cranbrook B.C. -Lots of long time players on the Ducks that have finally won a cup (Brad May, Selanne). -They OWNED Ottawa....period...

I second that...I work at a ski shop and it gets super busy sometimes...if I start jumping around to customers, then I will eventually forget about a customer that I was helping. I've been with people trying on boots for half of a Saturday before only to have them say that they want to look around...which is fine because boots are the most important, but it sure seems like a lot of wasted time. They're usually the people who think ski boots should feel just like their running shoes and nothing will fit. Anyway, I try to keep my eyes out for one of the other staff that isn't busy and point the people out that need help, but I can't just leave a customer a lot of the times. I must state for the record that I think service has improved at WSS, eventhough when I've been in there is has been really dead. Hey Lynn, if you're grabbing those waders, wanna grab me one of those Cloudveil gortex jackets....those things are near $500 too..ouch...

I don't know what BBB said, but I do know he's pretty young (and looks young too) and many times at different stores I have seen younger people ignored because they weren't with someone "older". Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.
