ÜberFly Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Gang, The Okanagan River Channel goes behind my parent's-in-law's property in Oliver and we were thinking of going to visit next week. Anyone have info on this river/channel? I understand there are bass and some other species (limited detailed info on the web)... Anyone have any specifics? I have never fished for bass... Also, what type of license is required? Thanks in advance, Peter and Deb Quote
monger Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 You need a non-resident fresh water licence. You can get a full year, 8-day or even a 3 day I think. The yearly licence is $55 plus tax. You can buy it online. Vaseux lake is just north of Oliver. The river/channel runs out the south end of Vaseux toward Oliver. Lots of bass, squawfish (pikeminnow), and some giant carp in Vaseux. Big bass in Osoyoos as well. You can use big dries or bigger streamers. I even had a great evening of fishing dry mayflies where the river leaves lake one night. Quote
jack Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Parts of the channel are subjected to some incredible bikini hatches, especially on weekends. j Quote
ÜberFly Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 I'll be sure that the GF isn't with me during those type of hatches P Parts of the channel are subjected to some incredible bikini hatches, especially on weekends. j Quote
