For the life of me I can't pull the two middle sections of my rod apart. Any suggestions?

Hi Jayvee,

One thing to try is, put the rod round the back of your legs right behind your knees with the stuck section right in the middle, hold the rod tight either side of your knees and push out with your legs as the lever , this uses the bigger Muscles and because the sections are behind you knees it keeps the sections straight and stops twisting .

I have seen this work so many times at the Trout fishery where i work, there are loads of other ways but this works most of the time.

Gord's method works great, but pay attention to your hands with respect to your guides. Last time I unstuck 2 sectioins using this method I also broke a guide.

The best luck i had with this problem is to put the rod behind you under your deriere, keeping your hands as close to the furrels as possible and then just assume a sitted possition. Worked every time! Good luck

Ice the stuck ferrule section before pulling apart. Ice it long enough so the male end stuck inside ferrule is cold to. Cold will cause the material to contract thus the ferrule hole becomes larger and the male end smaller making it easier to pull apart. Heat will to the opposite due to expansion. The male end expands to a larger diameter and the ferrule material expands making the hole smaller resulting in even a tighter fit. No heat!

good luck!

snap the rod half over your knee @ the ferrule and put in a warranty claim, otherwise go w/CDone's method. probably the most guaranteed of all that's been posted so far
