troutlover Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hey got this e-mail from a course i golf at for two free rounds of golf. It is no strings attached and legit. The courses are pretty good but very new: however the price is right so i golf there often. Thought id share. Guest RedWiggler Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Boulder Creek is only $33 durning the week? If you have never played there, trust me when I say $33.00 is way to much. If you ever want to go play this summer throw me a PM, golf is my life!!! Quote
troutlover Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 Ya they had a bunch of problems last year with their greens were killed in that spring ice storm and the soil out there is hard to grow in. But for a first year i think they did ok. I like the the lay out and there is lots of water but it's not an impossible course it's challanging and i like my score at the end of the day. Iv'e seen much worse first year courses. If your a really good golfer and used to golfing at priddis ya in comparrisosn it's not that great. Quote

Guest RedWiggler Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Ive played alot of new courses and they are typically not in that good of shape. I respect golf and the courses I play on and do understand the new course rust that most have, they are hard, sparse, and generally in bad shape but we understand that new courses have there growing pains. I just did not like the way they pumped that place up last year on the radio, they made it seem like it was something it wasnt. That said it was by far in worse shape of any course I have ever walked on to in my life and ended up not playing. I play less expensive courses with my buddies all the time and have a blast, like I said they pumped that place up so much last year that it was a real disappointment. I also dont compare one course to another because they are all differant, as a golfer I understand that, not all courses have the money, man power or growing conditions to make them awesome but are still fairly decent to play. Mcall Lake for example, I played it last year with my friends and was skeptical going in and I left impressed, first to wholes were each 422 yard par 4's and Im thinking to myself "man this course is a beast" lol and Im not even off of the first TEE yet. The course was in great shape, the greens were very receptive and puttable and better yet I shot 70. There are alot of cheap great golf courses to play in and around Calgary. Quote
darrinhurst Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 .... and better yet I shot 70. You shot a 70? Forget it...... Quote
darrinhurst Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Yeah, that would be a seriously lucky day for me.......lol I don't suck by any means, but shooting a 70 is still a wet dream for me. Quote
Guest RedWiggler Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 We will have to get after it this summer!! Quote
darrinhurst Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 That will happen, I guarantee it. Quote
troutlover Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 R.W. makes sense now. I do remember the adds and i think i do remember when i went my first time not expecting conditions to be what they were. Dude! 70 thats sick. Quote
Tungsten Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 and better yet I shot 70. Awesome, what did you shoot on the back nine? Quote
Guest RedWiggler Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 lol!!! well hey no one asked.....lol!!!! I sunk a 40' snake for birdie on 18 to shoot the 70. I dont sink long putts so it was exciting, even did a little Tiger hang on the lip before she fell in. When the putter is hot the rounds are usually pretty good, I think I had 5 birdies that day and that usually helps the score card. Quote

Guest RedWiggler Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hot putters can save alot of bad shots lol!!!! I remember one money game I was playing in a couple years back, I had 6 birdies on the front 9 and was only 2 under, then went on to shoot an 80 with a nice 10 over on the back. The hot putter could not save me that day lol, if it was not a birdie it was double or worse. That was one of the worst I have ever felt walking off of a golf course!!! 34 - 46 the model of consistency lol!!!!! I still wake up in a cold sweat these days lol!!! Quote
darrinhurst Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Man, I hear ya. I have had too many games like that. Either I'll shoot the lights out on the front, thinking it's gonna be a great round! Then totally crap the bed on the back nine......ruining everything that I had on the front. Or, I'll play like crap on the front and then turn it completely around on the back. But I like those days a lot better as you leave feeling you recovered your game nicely. Quote
