For the third challenge it should be interesting; mandatory materials are to be the feathers of 2 different species of bird. After that use anything else that you wish.

Due date: Sun Dec. 14

Here's my stab at this one. A modification to a similar pattern I use only I added some hackle for a wet fly presentation. You could weight this fly, but I chose not. Actually managed to use 4 different species.

Materials:

Hook: Your choice #12-18 (I chose a #14 Daiichi 1710)

Thread: 8/0 dark brown

Rib: Fine copper wire

Tail and back: pheasant tail

Abdomen: Turkey tail (I like to use the dark portion near the tip)

Wingcase: pheasant tail

Thorax: peacock herl

Hackle: partidge

Thanks for the comments. The picture is not the greatest (got to figure out the close ups better). I like the idea of these challenges. Hopefully, I can get a little more creative.

Nice work on the streamers. Lund, like the mallard flank, great idea.

Its a pattern from the fly tying bible and I just watched Leroy Hyatt tie a "Stayner Duck" which is identical except the color of chenille used, so hardly original. But thank you.
