TerryH Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Very encouraging -- let's hope it has some influence on fisheries management. Terry Quote
adc Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Thanks for posting, Tim....I wonder if the bait/ice/kill fishermen will complain about the survey only being sent to "elitist fly fishermen" for completion and thus the overwhelming results in favour of more QF's or if there really is a change among the general angling population?.......Anyway, the results are encouraging and now we need to see an action plan by fisheries with regard to making it all happen.......... TerryH Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 ............... Surprised on the ice fishing - I expected that a majority would not favour that. I was also surprised by this result, but I guess the kicker is the last phrase in the question: "....if the goals of a Quality Fisheries can still be met." This would probably mean a bait ban and perhaps more restrictive "keeper" regs. Terry Quote
DonAndersen Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Guys/Gals, Was @ the Provincial Fisheries Meeting where the survey results were presented by Dave Christiansen of the Rocky SRD office. One of more of the folks from SRD who spoke to the Quality Fishery policy told us that they would see the policy as a guideline and may not follow it in their areas. I took that to mean that there was some resistance within the SRD ranks to the Quality Policy and for some biologists, it would be business as usual. So as a follow up, I'd suggest that those of us that are interested in Quality Fisheries Policy contact the regional bio. in the areas you fish and ask him/her how soon we get more of them. catch ya' Don Quote
