The radio was saying that he was from Calgary. Scary thing is that a few people off this board (who I've never met) had emailed me and said they would be fishing it this week.

 

Will have to wait for more news.

It brings up a good point on live preservers though.

 

I've actually been mocked while wearing mine in my pontoon.

 

Mine fits and doubles as a vest, so I hardly notice I'm wearing it.

On unrelated sad news, stay off Deerfoot southbound at 17th ave. All closed as there is a huge diesel spill. I pray none gets into the river.

Sad story. I guess if I had to write a script of how I'd want to go... it'd be when I am older and somewhere enjoying a day of fishing and feeling at peace with the world.....

I agree. Very sad. I almost hope that the details are NOT released. The obsession with the macabre these days confuses me. Although, at times, details of an incident serve as awareness pertaining to safety issues. My condolences to the family of this fisherman.
