alhuger Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Anyone tried out the new Google Web browser yet? I'm test running it this morning and so far it's been great. http://www.google.com/chrome I took a peek earlier today, looked good. However, I would avoid it for a few quarters at least. New browsers have a terrible history of security vulnerabilities and I doubt Chrome will fare any differently. Quote
Tpetey Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I have loaded it and so far have had no problems. I haven't loaded it at home yet only at work! I'm a big fan of Google's previous software and I assume Chrome will fall right in line. Quote
headscan Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 There are also concerns about directed advertising with chrome. Check out point 3: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-10030522...ag=2547-1_3-0-5 And like Al mentioned, first vulnerability reported already: http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/30983/discuss Quote
newflyer Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 so far so good in my mind - doesnt seem to be a way to add the google toolbar though... thats where I store all my bookmarks. Quote
Lundvike Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I have been playing with it for a bit tonight some plug-ins don't work yet probably take a while for that. Oddly the adds on this page came up with the plug-in crashed unhappy puzzle piece. looks very pretty the search while typing in the address bar is very cool and it seems way faster than IE7. Using it right now. Quote

Check out the "Instant Bookmarks" link. It does the same thing. http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/features.html# Quote

headscan Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Keep in mind that it's still (like all things Google) beta software. There are still going to be bugs and various other things that break it for the first while. I installed it on a Windows virtual machine and thought it was ok. The interface matches Windows, but unless they make the interface as nice as Safari and Firefox on OS X I won't be using it. Quote
