onthefly7 Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I would like to take a trip to wedge pond sometime in July. I have read that Chironomids are the ticket, but what specific patterns? Also is their any potential for dry fly action in July or just the Chironomids. Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Just buy a bunch of different colors. I find the mountain midge works the best. Red, beadhead with silver ribs. Size 18-22. Smaller the better. Quote
admin Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Last time I was there, they were taking the small white midges off the surface. Like Daves says, you'll want to go small on the dry to get any attention. I was using some simple griffith's gnats in 18 ad 20 that worked well, larger flies 14/16 were snubbed. For chironomids, I used a silkworm in size 16 that worked pretty good too. Quote
