Mini Leeches

Hey everyone

Just tied these. Size 8 so not real small but give thoughts for improvement please.

Thinner body, thicker tail, etc.

I also think a bead head would do a better job for the smaller leeches but thats all I had lying around.

lookin good bud. ill take a few...if it was me id add a little bit more maribou for the tail (more so for the 1st one)...but those are better than the ones i tie

i'd fish em!!! I tie one similar to your tie...only a little flash in the tail and a gold bead head...i know gold sounds and looks a little strange but.......try it. Brents sugestion is a good one also.

Im trying Mohair thread on the bodys for some leeches has anyone had any luck using the Mohair in these patterns. I like it turns a 3 minute tie into a 2 minute tie but, havent been using the mohair leeches yet this season.

Mohair thread? Never even seen it. I use mohair dubbing for mine. What is this thread you speak of???

It's mohair spun into a thread, you tie it in and wrap it forward..then pick it out with a dubbing brush

Ahhh...so like pre dubbed thread, cool. How does it work? worth trying or better to stick with the dubbin??

Uni Thread makeas a thread that is basically a really long dubbing loop through it in your bobbin and go to town. Looks awesome easy to use but im still thinking marabou will do better but the thread looks so much more durable.

Looks like someone is watching "Sport fishing on the Fly".........I tied them up in size 14.....................never tryed them yet

Is having the body wrapped in wire necessary? Will the fly hold up if I don't wrap the body in wire? I like the way they look without the wire body wrap but I'm not sure if they will fall apart right away. Thanks

i'm sure the wire adds weight & durablity to the fly me thinks,nothing wrong with using just thread to dub into a loop,then wind on .

I've had good luck with these on lakes recently. I usually put a red bead or if I want more weight a tungston bead behind the cone. I also use a small amount of marabou for a tail.

I use Mohair plus red/black with a copper or gold bead our front and they are my #1 go-to pattern for any new stillwater. And they work. Everywhere. Yours are identical save for the conehead. You gotter dialed.

but the conehead could be smaller or you could add a glass bead behind it but anyways great job!
