Heading South With The Famn Damily.

Recommended Posts

My cousin and I, along with our respective wives are heading south for a bit of camping this weekend and I need a bit of advice.

The cousin and I have waders, but the wives do not. I was hoping to find a couple of streams to take the girls on that they would not require waders to have fun.

I understand that most people who fly fish are not exactly the sharing kind when it comes to discussing places to fish ( a concept that in my opinion has missed the mark ) i am not asking for your secret hole, just a direction to head that might produce favorable scenery rather then heading to a stream listed in the alberta fishing guide only to find that its surrounded by cliffs and thick brush.

While i understand that this might not be possible, any help would make their trip all that much better.

Thanking you in advance, on behalf of the wives,

Steven.

All the streams in the S.W. have trails (OMR, Liv and tribs). So it's possible to tag along fishing with you and follow the trails if they have no waders.

On the other hand, Mike (my husband) and I took out a couple of newbies on Saturday up Racehorse to give them a few pointers and get started. I took a camera intending to just take pics and wore just my wading boots. As it turned out, I crossed the river a few times without waders and, while it was a bit chilly, it wasn't too bad once you got used to it. Just can't stand in there for hours and fish is all.

It's tough to find a stream in the mountains that doesn't need to be crossed at some point in time or another though due to a high wall or cliff or whatever. At least I haven't found one.

Have fun!

Thanks LynnF. I have never been to any other river except the bow as i am just gettin back into fishing after a long break. Hearing that most of the streams have a trail of some kind takes a lot of the guess work out of the equation.
