ausnuck Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Alright Tako, because I know you're broke and ergo bored, I'll play along. My guess is a chinook parr. It's only a guess though fish geek boy. When did you catch it? Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Rainbow trout, im going easy hahaha Quote

albannachxcuileag Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 A greedy little fecker judging by the size of the fly! Quote
EdB Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I'm guessing.....................bigger than the fish SJW catch's Quote
Guest Sundancefisher Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Caught on that fly looks like a cuttbow from the foothills but the fish is not facing the right was to see under the jaw. Maybe a cutt or a rainbow from up near jasper. Quote
bulltrout Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 that's gotta be a baby 'bow... http://www.zoology.ubc.ca/~keeley/rainbow.htm 4th pic down... Quote
Brownstone Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 "V" Tail is usually Salmon parr I believe Quote
Tako Posted March 23, 2008 Author Posted March 23, 2008 The fish was caught in British Columbia Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Looks like a young athabasca rainbow. I'm gonna go with rainbow trout. Quote
SteveM Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Looks like a young athabasca rainbow. I'm gonna go with rainbow trout. Personally, I think it's cruel & unethical of Tako to do this!!! What kinda sick sumbitch cuts a "V" in the tail of a rainbow parr just to play a stupid guessing game on a fishing forum!!! Shame on you; you should never be allowed to fish again! Quote
Tako Posted March 23, 2008 Author Posted March 23, 2008 Good one Bobbers A few got it and a few didn't. I think ausnuck cheated It is a yearling chinook. The spacing between the parr marks, lack of spotting on the adipose fin and somewhat hidden anal fin were the giveaways. This was a tough one even for me, as I second guessed my original guess of chinook (thinking they should have migrated out of the system already) and thought rainbow briefly. A quick email to a prof cleared that up Good guess on coho smolt weeds But there's no white edge on the anal fin. Greedy little beggars. I caught 5 of them on that same pattern! Quote
BRH Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Okay ... this is my first post so who knows what's going to come out. That may be a finned critter but it's nothing I'd be posting on here. Time for you to go after something bigger than your middle finger. I've used flies bigger than that minnow. Quote
