Fly Fishing Film Tour Comes To Calgary March 12 08

Recommended Posts

Short notice, but if you like trout bum diaries, then you might be interested to know of a screening of new AEG material. Check the website, it looks great. Not sure which film they are showing, but it looks like it will be new material.

Just got home from this evenings show. It cirtainly had a save our waters theme for the Bristol Bay area. Which is slated for an open pit mine called the Pebble Mine. It's proposed by Northern Dynasty Minerals. This proposed mine is apparently going to be put at the headwaters of Lake Iliamna which have one of the largest runs of sockeye salmon.

Here's a quote from the website of AEG Media who put the film on.

What can people expect to see at the Fly Fishing Film Tour?

Films shot in extreme, exotic and distant locations; epic scenery, cutting edge music, and conservation pieces that are as entertaining to watch, as they are important; and of course gigantic fish on the end of a fly.

Our credo: “No stereotypical instructional programs.” PERIOD!

The films we select to take on tour focus on action, adventure, excitement, humor, and lifestyle. AEG Media is taking people on a journey to see what it takes to be truly committed to capturing fly fishing adventure on film.

If you fly fish you are going to be blown away, if you don’t fly fish you are going to be inspired.

They nailed it. All I can say is there was plenty of fish porn all night long. It made all who were present feel like they were right there with the folks on videos.

I was there last night. Enjoyed the show and will probably buy one or more of the movies, particularly the Mongolia one.

I did do a quick check on fishing in Bristol Bay. 10K or so would do it for a week. Not cheap, but sure looks fun!
