Hi. I guess I should introduce myself…

Originally from van isle in cow town for the last 6 years, wow time flies.

Steelhead was my main thing but salmon on the fly is a close second.

Open ocean fly caught Coho, springs… if you haven’t tried it you really really should!

Sounds like another long-sticker to invade the Bow. :P

I wonder how much of an influence from BC steelheaders and Atlantic salmon fishers have had on the 'recent' Bow spey trend?

 

 

 

I can tell you spey is not at all popular among the Atlantic fisherman in Newfoundland

I do have a two hander but i hav'nt used it on the bow. it's an 8wt 14ft g lomis great rod for bigger fish a liitle much for the bow i think

what are all you spy folks using?

Welcome to the board.

 

Popular rods here are in the 12'-13.5' range in 5-7 weights, depending on what you're using em for. I've got a 12'6" Deer Creek that I'm learning to spey cast with, and a 10'6" 7/8 switch rod for streamers. Just do a search in the Spey Casters Lounge, there's tons of info in there.
