I am submitting this to Flyanglersonline, to hit their FOTW, so hope i get it published there..any ideas let me know

Daiichi 1260 - #6

Tail - Brown barred Fly Legs

Weight - Lead on both sides of the hook, then wrapped over top

Underwrap - Yellow ice dub, top darkenned black by permanent marker

Overwrap - Orange Vinyl Rib

Shell back - Brown mottled Thin Skin

Thorax - Rusty Brown Ice Dub

Legs - Brown Barred Fly Legs

Start your fly off by covering the shank with your thread, color to your choice.

Tie on the lead on both sides of the shank and tied down

2-1.jpg

Lead then wrapped overtop of the shank, tied down

3.jpg

Tail tyed in. Its easier to tie them to split apart if you put a little ball of dubbing (i used rusty brown to match the thorax) and tie them on the opposite sides, keeps them nice and split through out it, and also gives it some more action in the water

4.jpg

Tie in your vinyl rib. When you wrap this forward you're going to have to hold one of the tails away, otherwise it will catch, or try to join the other tail

5.jpg

Wrap your Yellow Ice Dub Forward

6.jpg

Color the top of the ice dub black with a permanent marker. When you do this, the marker will pull out a bit of the dubbing, so i trim off the top, otherwise it bulks up when you're wrapping the vinyl rib

7.jpg

Wrap your vinyl rib forward and tie down.

8.jpg

Tie in your first set of legs (note that they are not trimmed yet). Then dub forward with Rusty Ice Dub

Cut yourself a stonefly wing case, should look like this

Tie in your wing case

11.jpg

Repeat the previous steps. Tie in the next set of legs, and use your rusty ice dubbing, and move it forward. Then Tie in another wing case

12.jpg

Your Front Case / eye needs to look like this. I trim both ends, so they tie in easily

13.jpg

Front Case Tied in, same with the front set of legs.

14.jpg

Dub Forward with the rusty ice dub again.

15.jpg

Bring the front case overtop and tie in. Whipfinish and tie off

I never leave myself enough room on this fly to tie in the eyes, and when i do it looks haggard (not necessarily a bad thing)...got a few with the eyes on em..mediocre in my mind

I have to agree, woven flies are way too much work :P
