Hawgstoppah Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Hey all. Im gonna be in town from 26-29 or so, have some hockey planned. There's 5 of us that are gonna lace up for sure... if anyone else wants to join in some fun friendly shinny type hockey at one of the outdoor rinks in town, lemme know. I usually go to a rink around 40 ave and 40st somewhere I dont know the address but if people are interested in meeting us I'll GET u the address. We'll basically be there every night till they shut the lights out... Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted December 24, 2007 Author Posted December 24, 2007 Full gear NOT needed... just skates and a stick.. it's a lotta fun. Full geared goalies would be sweet Quote
Castuserraticus Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 What quadrant of the city? I'm just about always up for a skate. I approach hockey like sex - more enthusiasm than skll. Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I'm in, dont care what area. Im just IN. Quote
PaleMorningDunce Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 I'm in if I'm in town. Which night...or all of 'em? I hope to be in town either the 27th or 28th. Cheers, PMD Quote

rusty Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 If it's in the south end, I'd be in plus one former Junior B goalie avec full gear. Quote
dino Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I may be in if it's in the south. Copperfield has a pretty good rink..... Dean Quote
ladystrange Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 i havent skated in years and what i did could hardly be considered hockey. but i'll come by for a coffee and a laugh, err chat. might even bring the skates and the stick if i can find them. Quote
JMasson Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I might be in Calgary for the day anyways on the 27th. If I do go I will bring my skates and a stick with me and lace up. I'd love to play with you folks! James Quote
Guest Rocknbugs Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 My knee and foot are totally F$%ed but I could give it a go, when and were. Mackenzie lake has a killer hockey rink on one side and 2 rinks set up on the lake as well. The ice is great as we have a community Zamboni and they do the ice near daily its awesome. If we can get enough people from the site I could call over and see if we could get a time to have a private game. Quote
Castuserraticus Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Brian let us know which rink. Silver Springs was in good shape yesterday. Last year the volunteers were floodingand scraping 2X/day. I assume it's the same this year as the same guy is in charge. Triwood apparently uses the zamboni on their outdoors rink also - don't know if it's restricted to community members. Quote
Nick0Danger Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Silver Springs is not as well kept as last year (i tried to volunteer but they said the guy taking care of it has 1 other person and does not want any other help) However that said it is in MUCH better shape than most other outdoor rinks, im not one to complain when i can walk 2 blocks and have a nice skate. gustuphson Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Any update on this? I need to work off the turkey, and sweet potato pie, and stuffing, and... Quote

JMasson Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Are you guys still planning on playing on the 29th (saturday)? I can't make it to Calgary on the 27th but I am planning on coming down on Saturday to fish the Bow and I'll bring my gear to play some hockey afterwards. I would love to meet some of you folks and pass a puck or two as well. Please, let me know if this is still in the books! I'll need an address and maybe directions since I'm not familiar with Calgary. James Quote

Hawgstoppah Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 aww crap. I forgot about this post. I just got back today. Played at a rink in the SE i dont even know which one. I had my 2 boys 13 and 14yr old so we didn't go to hard but we had a lot of fun. Played at a little pond in Okotoks too.. was fun. Quote
yodatrout Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I got out on a rink off Elbow Dr and 32. Good ice about ten skaters and a shooter tudor. Too bad I never learned to keep my head up... it'll be a couple of weeks before I heal Quote
