Dangus
Well, as I expected, my new boots I bought in June, shrunk up like an apricot in the sun. Anyone come up with a remedy for it? Tried mink oil once. Didn't do much. Might try when the boots are still slightly damp.
ÜberFly
Maybe try inserting a shoe form when they are wet so it maintains the size/shape when they dry? 1
Dangus
Yeah thought about stuffing something in there. Will give it a go
ÜberFly
Newspaper stuffed in, works in a pinch, as well!
BurningChrome
You mean they shrink when dry but they're fine again once you get your feet in them and start wading? That happens with my G3s all the time so if they're dry I soak them with water before I leave the house and they're good to go once I get to the river.
troutlover
Ive had this problem also. Solution is a plastic bin full of water with a light disinfecting solution. Boots off toss em in the bin.
Dangus
BC ya same problem. That’s what I’ve done in the past. Just annoying since I usually keep them out in the garage. Was just trying to see if anyone knew some more permanent fixes. Might have to try the headwaters pro next time.
BurningChrome
Fish more so they don't dry out to begin with... I've also got a pair of Patagonia Ultralights and they're the same. To be honest, I always thought it happened with every wading boot and that's why Korkers made those rear entry ones.
Dangus
Korkers don’t have that problem because they turn into dust and blow away in the breeze before they get a chance to. its been so long since I’ve had anything other than guide boots, I can’t recall. Great boots other than this issue
bowbonehead
Always has been a bit of an issue with boots although no where near as bad with the new synthetics.... be glad you missed the danner era.... great boots but needed a fill the night before an outing
