bulltrout Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 In March, i tried something new...sort of a single elimination tournament pitting tiers from the board against each other to see who would come out on top...seeding was based on # of posts at the beginning of the tourney (out of the contestants, whomever had the most posts would take on the contestant with the least posts...was it any wonder Dave was seeded #1? ...this seeding continued throughout the tourney kind of like the NHL playoffs...) Here was the starting bracket for the tournament... and the second bracket... and the third bracket...(in this bracket, just because of the way the numbers worked out, there were three contestants with the top two flies moving on to the final round...) in the fourth bracket, it was myself vs. hydropsyche for the title and hydro destroyed my BWO with his beetle... i only have pics of my flies for the tourney, so if anyone else wants to post theirs (if they still have them), feel free... DBT's Entries Round #1 (Nymphs) Round #2 (Dry Flies) Round #3 (Streamers) Round #4 (Realism) Quote
hydropsyche Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 That was a lot of fun, DrB. Thanks for putting it together. It sure helped pass the time during the blustery, dark winter. Glenbow was gracious enough to donate some awesome glasses for the winner and (Sorry, I forget who) offered some ice dubbing for second place. I still have the pics on Photobucket, so here they are. Nymph: Dry: Streamer: and Realistic: And the Grand Prize: Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 One day i'll jump back in this contest and put more effort in. This sum buck catches big uns though, until max snags em all on bottom. Quote
bulltrout Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 hydro: it was guito (Blair S.) who donated the Ice Dub dispenser which you so graciously gave to me... Quote
grannyknot Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Wow. Those flies are stunning. I'm still hacking away at my first tie, trying to get the body and the whip finish right on one, so these are pretty awe-inspiring. Great ties guys. Quote
hydropsyche Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 This sum buck catches big uns though, until max snags em all on bottom. Dave, I remember you posting a step-by-step for this fly. I'd love to see it again and tie some of these up myself. Quote
