I actually like a reel that is a bit larger and heavier than one that is perfectly balanced with the rod, but that's just me. I find casting easier. gets those dry flies of mine high in the tree branches where I can snap them off. :D

I'm in 'the lighter rod and reel combo, the better' camp. IMO, Lighter gear across 100's of casts helps my aging body with not tiring as quickly.
