I started fly fishing in the Adirondack Mountains of New York state....beautiful area, north of the Catskills.

Fished the Adirondack's in the 70's, where some great streams down there and met some great fly tiers.

The family used to camp at Rollins Pond near Tupper Lake and I used to watch fly fishermen at nearby Whey Pond and wanted to try it. That's how I started...mid 70's.

Fished through the Ausable, Saranac & Chateaugay etc.. Beautiful country in the fall. Spent a few rainy days at the Ausable fly shop with Fran Betters it was a great experience on very haunting waters.

Joan Wulff is one of only two living members of the founders of the Catskills center 35 years ago. She's 90 years old and still fishing and teaching fly casting.

Really nice guy, full of knowledge and a very original tier. Only used natural materials. Still have a few of his flies and a fly rod he built and gave to me for helping tie in the shop.
