jasonvilly Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 heading down to Costa Rica today, Was building some leaders, Try as I might, I could not master the blood knot for putting together my butt, class and shock tippet. So instead I used the double uni knot. From what I found on the internet, them seem equal in strength, the double uni is maybe slightly larger in profile. Did I seriously screw up, or will the double uni suffice? Quote
bcubed Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 The blood knot sucks to tie well if you're changing diameters drastically, such as when you're doing a proper tarpon leader with class and shock tippet. Unless you're trying to win a record, then use double or triple surgeons on your connections. Apparently the 'slim beauty' is a wicked little knot, but I've never tried tying it. Seems like it should be easy Also, you're not fishing the flats of Florida for 100 year old tarpon that have seen every leader in creation and are freaked out by them. Don't worry about your knot sizes, it's not gonna matter in CR. 1 Quote
