fishinglibin Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I do not recall so please tell me about how much backing should be on a reel for fishing chinook and chum salmon. It is a fairly large arbor reel but I have no line capacity info it. Thx Quote
markd Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 250 to 300 yards of 30 pound gel-spun 1 Quote
ggp Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Put as much backing on, as your reel will allow, and still enable you to get the fly line on. As far as I am concerned this would apply to any species, and any reel you may use. (fill the spool up) Quote
danhunt Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 What Mark and Gary said - Use 30lb gel spun and fill that sucker. Quote
fishinglibin Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 I was thinking braided 30 lb from internet but the spool on line is too small. Will continue looking. Don't want to tie two together. Thanks for the feedback. Quote
