Villageidiot Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Good lord. University graduation gift to myself is going to be a "winter" in New Zealand. Looks like heaven. Quote
Muffin Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Holy crap, some real slabs in those pictures. Thanks for sharing and glad to see you had a great time. Quote
Guest bigdirty Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Curious about public river access down there. Quote
bjbailey Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Hey - river access is the same as Canada, perhaps easier in some cases. It's all under one license and a similar mix of public lands and private lands owned by farmers. With a smile and courteous stop at the landowners place, I've never run into an access issue. Mind you, I'm sure if you snuck around some of them would give you a piece of their mind! Quote
fishyfish Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 This was the one and only sea-run fish I caught, which coincidentally, was the only fish that broke the fabled 10lb mark as well. Many other anglers caught many more "mousey" fish this year in NZ than I, but I also can't handle flying across the world to compete for space on rivers I assume tis was on the South Island on a river on the west coast? What area if I may ask?. fishyfish Quote
fishyfish Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Looks like the South Island? Queenstown area? fishyfish Quote
bjbailey Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 There are a few different rivers in those pictures. Nothing around Queenstown, all on the north half of the South Island Quote
