Farley Mowat has passed away

He was of Canada's best-known authors and a noted environmentalist, and produced more than 30 books, many of us grew up with his works. Some of my favorites where People of the Deer and Lost in the Barrens.

Matthiessen, Marquez, . . . now Mowat.

 

If you're one of my favourite authors, your last name starts with an 'M', and it's the year 2014 . . . chances are you're going to die.

" and no birds sang" is a riveting account of his time in WWII and should be required reading for all students....and of course his frequent appearances on Front Page Challenge for those of us of a certain vintage...at least authors and artists can always be remembered by the media they produced after they leave us...
