jaymack Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I bought a #3 Metz Brown/Grizzly combo neck last week, and I have a question about it. This is my first dry fly hackle, and I noticed that the brown has a fair number of weathers with black web down the middle. Are these feathers still useful for dry flies? It is mostly less than 1/3-1/4 of the length of the barbs, but it seems to look like more just from the colour contrast. Also, does anyone have any good uses for the patch of webby feathers attached to the side? Quote
SilverDoctor Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Yes , most certainly, these are great for huge variety of patterns like Royal Coachman, Stimulators etc. I love the black as it maks the hackle look denser. Quote
