Skwala stoneflies have been active lately.

I thought they were alot darker in color almost black.

a few things :

-as the water rises it will sweep old shucks off the bank

-stones do a large scale molt

-stones do a large scale "migration" to new hunting grounds about now

 

Dustin - those in your photo look like shucks. they look life like if you varnish them.

Those look a little to dark to be golden stone nymps... Definitely interesting though.... You're not making the the waiting till late june/july any easier on me.

I was getting pelted all morning at McKinnon on Saturday! I witnessed quite a few floating near the banks, which compelled me to try a stimmy, had one refusal, I was just excited to get a surface strike! They are definitely active, as I managed a couple bows on a Kaufman black stone nymph. I did also see an adult golden stone taking refuge in a rock overhang as well.
