ghus32 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Hello Everyone, My friend and I are going down the bow on the weekend in a larger canoe, I was wondering if the drift time is moderately the same for a canoe than a drift boat. what are some fishing techniques fishing from a canoe because my guess is that you cant stand up a lot to cast and fight fish? Is it feasible to leave fish creek and reach mckinnons flats within the day with a canoe Thanks in advance Quote
Tungsten Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 No problem at all,i would think you'll be much quicker then a drift boat so you'll have plenty of time to stop and fish. Trolling a streamer when paddling may work but make sure you have some sort of rod holder. Quote
troutlover Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 A canoe is much faster than a drift boat or a pontoon. I wouldn't recomend trying to fish from it but it is great for transport. Drift to a spot walk and wade then move onto the next. Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 i do a TON of river caoeing and we can do 30-40k easy in a day. but you can also slow it down to what ever you want. if its just one person you can stand up very easly and casting is not much of a problem.....2 people it is MAYHAM, one person will lean on way and the other person will try to compensate and it will all get wet from there. I would have the guy in the front fishing while the guy in the back steers/controls the canoe. Or just pull over at sweet spots. If you are running out of time you should be able to dig in and cruise. Quote
