captnhighliner Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I apologize in advance if this has been covered before.... I am looking for a small pond in Calgary with public access that has lots of small fish that a 4-6 year old will be able to catch fish pretty easily with a spin cast rod from shore. Any suggestions? Try Sibbald it has small fish and some big ones they stock it quite a lot and a lot of kids go there for some fun fishing. You catch them with in 2 minutes. Try it Quote

lamponius Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Looked on google maps correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it a fair distance out of Calgary? Around 1 hour from south Calgary. I found that sometimes it is really easy for kids to catch some fish, and sometimes almost impossible...Anyway, it s a nice place, and trhey stocked it for May long week end. Avoid week-ends... Quote
captnhighliner Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Catch anything? Caught one in about 45 minutes. Man I hate treble hooks. Next time I'll use a streamer and some weight for my kids spin caster. Quote

Another thing you can try is either cut two of the hooks off the treble with side cutters, or just take the treble off altogether and replace it with a single hook. Read about it. Going to do that for my kids treble hooks. Quote
