I like longer rods for all the reasons mentioned, but mostly for the line control; mending etc especially when nymphing. The Loop Opti Peak 11' #3 looks like it would be unreal for czech nymphing Quote

I've posted this before, but your post made me think of it again. Back on topic, I got a 7wt Sage 99 (9' 9" hence the name) last year, which I've used mostly for chironomiding, and I love it. Since I don't fish bigger water like the Bow, I haven't used it for nymphing, which is primarily what it is intended for, but I'm sure it would be great for that too. Terry Quote
Brunsie Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 There are a lot of good reasons for using a 10 foot rod. I also found that in my pontoon boat the extra foot off the water let me carry more line in the air if I wanted longer casts. When you're a $hitty caster like me it helps. Quote
