stoby1 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I've been tying flies a couple of years now and can do a reasonable job of the standards i.e. pheasant tail, prince, paraduns, klinks, woolies etc. I now have a huge supply of these patterns. I think I'm ready to try something a bit more challenging. Does anyone have a couple of suggestions, preferably useful on the Bow. Cheers stoby1 Quote
ironfly Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 How are you at spinning hair? The Bow River Bugger has been very successful for me in coloured water with a sink-tip. Quote
Bigtoad Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I'd go with foam chernobyl ant type stuff with rubber legs. They're a ton of fun to tie and once you use foam on one thing, you'll be trying it on others as well. Works like a damn on the Bow too. Cheers. Quote
murray Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 For nymphs, try some of the stonefly patterns, black brown and yellow. Prince nymph is good also as well as Evil Weevil. For drys give a stimulator a try and maybe Adams and any parachute pattern. Murray Quote
whataniceguy Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Try some stimmies in traditional or foam either way they work. Tie them large and small, the small ones will double as a caddis. Quote
