Back in the olden days I was required to get a guide license from the Warden Service in BNP. The Deputy Chief Warden administered the oral test and his last questions was; "How do you tell the difference between a black bear and a grizzly?" I went the standard spiel, differences in hair coat, claw/foot print,dish face, hump etc. "Na" said the DCW "when Mr Bear chases you up a tree, a black will climb the tree and bite you on the ass. A grizzly will just push the tree over and then bite you on the ass....... you pass."
