  1. I looked at the vapours, nice boot, very light, just not sure about how low they were.they didn't seem to give the ankle support I was looking for.everybody looks for something different in a boot though.
  2. Bought the Korker Buckskins, as they were on sale, then bumped into a set of the new Simms Riverteck, they fit much better than the G3 boots, and had the BOA, system. So I now have 2 sets, both seem like very nice boots, the Riverteck, is built a bit like a ski boot, so, has tons of support, for the river rock. Another nice feature is, it has small cutouts, near the shank area to empty out water, I hope it does not allow silt, and small stones in.might have to further up with a trip report on the boots. On another note, found another sport shop called North 40 Outfitters, Awsome store, in Courdelane, as well as Sandpoint. Better prices than Cabelas, as well as Black Sheep. In my Opinion Black Sheep, has gone down hill on Flyfishing gear. Going to the new Northwest Outfitters Orvis store tomarrow, looks very promising.
  3. Tried on a pair of Korker buckskins today, nice boot, on sale for $99 U.S., so about $130 can. Also tried on some Simms with the BOA set up, very nice setup, but boots did not fit my feet proper. Going again today to find Some Korkers with BOA setup, you can cinch up the boots pretty nice this way, and then be out of them in seconds.
  4. I have been using 7 strand Titanium leaders, 30lb. Test. They are about $6 at WSS, have had very good luck with them attached to about 6ft. Of 30lb. Mono.
  5. I a running, a TFO- BVK 890 for a pike rod, as well as a Hardy Zenith 7wt. 9.5 ft, they both chuck streamers very well, the TFO, rated very well on the 8wt. Flyrod shootout done by Yellowstone angler, beating out rods, that are selling for twice as much. My next streamer rod, will be for Bulls, and will be a TFO Impact in 6 wt. The Flyrod shootouts that Yellowstone does are very informative, articles with tons of info.
  6. Will be doing a trip to Idaho this week, and have a look there.with the dollar the way it is, it may not be cheaper, but they will have a good selection, and I can try them on, to get proper sizing.here, I would probably have to mail order, unless I want to travel a couple hrs. To the city.
  7. I currently have a set of Adams built boots, they have lasted 2 years, but I let a seam, on one of them. I am wanting to upgrade, and have narrowed it down to Korkers, or Simms, I will probably buy the ones that fit best, but are there any other attributes I should know about either of these boots, or possibly another comparable brand, that I have overlooked. Thanx Spurly
  8. I had the chance to fish for the day, with my buds, Impact today.I own, Loop, Sage, and Hardy rods, and let me say, for the money, I was very impressed. The new cork handle, looks, and feels great. A big improvement, to the cork, on my BVK rods. The rod I fished, is a 6wt. And it chucks line very well, in a straight line, exactly where you point it. It takes very little effort to cast, and also casts very smoothly. It handles the fish, very well, has, nice balance, and most of all a reasonable price. I think TFO has come up with a tremendous rod, that most people can afford, and in my opinion, can compete, with some of the higher end rods, out there. I will for sure be buying one, maybe even two, in the very near future. If you have not tried one of these impact rods, do yourself a favour, and cast one. If you are in the market for a new rod, don't overlook the Impact.
  9. Thanx for the replies, will have to try, and cast one.
  10. I have heard that these rods are pretty good, but cannot seem to find much for reviews. Also cannot seem to find any dealers, in order to handle one. Any first hand experience here? How do they compare to the mid to higher priced rods? Thanx in advance.
  11. I have been using a Loop Greyline 3 wt. 9 ft. With loop reel, I have landed some very nice cuts, and some 3-4 lb. bulls, very happy with the setup.have also used a Winston B IIIx 2 wt, on cuts, and bulls 3-4 lbs. both great rods.
