The day started out with a lot of optimism; with my sights on finding brown trout sipping PMD’s off the surface. After hiking into my location, I stumbled upon the banks of a high and dirty creek from a week’s worth of rain. Thinking I could bomb streamers all day in the hopes of moving a fish or two or I could head up higher to a few tribs up that I had hoped would be running clearer. After choosing the latter, I ended up being able to fish my PMD’s to eager little brookies and they once again saved the day.

  2. Dustin,

Do you leave your glasses on if you spray your head with mosquito repellent?

I have had several pairs of sunglasses that have had the same problem as you. The only reason I can come up with is by getting that stuff on it, whether it be a direct spray or my hands touching them soon after....

I love smith's however 3 or so years ago i bought a pair of the polorized ones and noticed after a month that the colour of the glasses on the arms was bubbling off. So i sent them in to get repaired which cost me around $50 or so to get them to quebec i think, got them back like 2 weeks later? only problem was that they were a different colour and i was the new owner of leopord print sunglasses haha, i kept them and have them and use them to this day and they are awesome however i am having the same problem with the bubbling and cracking but dont care as much now as they have scratches and a couple chips on the lenses so its almost time for a new pair. Dont know how many times ive dropped them glasses down a side of a mountain
  3. My boa's have issues being stuck at the end of the day, not allowing me to undo them and having to wear them home. Now the latest flaw is that they keep popping open when I'm walking. Sticking with laces next time around for sure..

I've never had my boot laces come undone - I just tie them up and tuck them under my gravel guards so they don't snag on anything. If I break a lace I just pull out the extra pair I keep in my backpack and I'm ready to go in less than 5 minutes. If you break your Boa (I've seen it happen more than once) good luck fixing them stream side. Sometimes low tech is a good thing.

  4. Brian, how is the size of fish now compared to back then??

The bow could maybe use a couple of low runoff years to regfrow them HUGE green weeds that are full of aquatic life / bugs. They help the fish. I've never seen as many fish in the bow as there was between about 1999 and 2003. And the big green weeds were massive. Now this is an unscientific take on the whole thing, but I usually observe and make statements based on actual fact. People think a 10 fish day now is good. Back then I woulda been dissapointed with 10.

  5. Not sure who wouldn't like to read about everyone's adventures, but there's a difference between telling your adventure and telling people were it was you were on your adventure...

Some streams just can't handle the pressure. I hope that the streams I go to the fish don't turn into livingstone cutts with half their faces missing because somebody told people on a internet site to go fish there...

As has been well said by many before me, we don't 'post to boast', but we 'post to host'. That is to say we share our experiences (good, bad or indifferent) with those that are interested in hearing about our adventure.

  6. I only do it 2 times as well, never have had a problem with it failing...

Am I the only one who uses the double surgeon's knot with 2 passes through? It very rarely lets me down and the Knot id a lot smaller and cleaner.

I hope Clive reads this post as I think he had some issues with expired leader and tippet and he took the shop to task on it.
