  1. I had visited this valley and this river several times when I was in NZ.

It would be a shame to see this cycleway go ahead as planned as it could very well hurt the fishing and the overall experience. If you ever dream of heading to NZ or have been, consider submitting a complaint. Perhaps more foreign anglers who speak up the better.

    Online Submission Form: http://www.southlanddc.govt.nz/have-your-say-submission-form

Submission deadline is Sept 23rd NZ, so you only have one more day to get them in.

  2. I was much the same as everyone here and never really gave it much thought...but that has since changed. If you've ever been to NZ, and see the devastating effects that Didymo causes I think you may think twice about not washing your gear. As fisherman we have a responsibility to protect the waters we enjoy not only for ourselves but for all recreational users.

  3. Is this safe to use on PVC pipes??

if your laundry drain is plugged, then i would first try sulfuric acid. it is available at most cheapo depot plumbing departments, it eats thru every thing. but be carefull it is very corrosive and stinks like crazy, it also reacts violently with water.let the drain empty out slowly, pour it in the drain, the whole bottle and cover the end of the drain for the fumes, leave for 1/2 hour and then flush with cold water. turns chrome and stainless steel black. be careful with this stuff. 20 bucks is cheaper than having a plumber like me come for a vist! haha

  4. I'm looking for some advice...

I came downstairs to check on my laundry and found that my drainage pipe was clogged for my washing machine and the water was backing up all over my floor.

I thought it would be an easy fix, but after doing a bit of research I read that using a snake is a quick fix and will only poke a hole in the clog, and that it will be a reoccuring problem and to avoid using chemicals.

Does anyone have any other suggestions without calling in a plumber, or should I go buy a snake and give that a go?

    Thanks,

    Mitch

  5. Haha - too funny Dave.

You were being very generous that day and did let me have a go...too bad you forgot to teach me how to cast that day! It was a little over the top to get to, but it sure was a fun day.

Hopefully you guys can sneak in a few more fish before you make the trip back to AB.

Hands up who didn't see this coming...

Hmmmm... it’s gonna be like that, eh? Even though I’m here on the other side of the planet, I still have a computer and internet to go along with a video camera. Let’s see if I can dig out some raw footage of someone fishing a little earlier in our trip here... let’s see how he makes out... what should I title this video??? Ah, I know...

Click here if the movie does not play.

I don’t know if I see the wisdom poking the dude with the video camera. How’s that for pokey thing? <--poke--<

I can’t recall though... did I even get a cast near my fish before it spooked? Some of them were a wee silly, esp those at the top end that the cows watched you work. The coolest spring creek I know of. Haven’t been back since you left either – don’t know why. Amazing bit of water with 6 to 9 pounders every 75m in gin clear water. And the effort getting to that bit of water was a little over the top. 300mm of rain on Sunday here out west... or 130kmh winds and dry out east. Pick your poison.

  6. I'll say that it was Dave's fish and it wasn't caught... <--poke--<

Nice pics thanks for sharing. I will get there some day.

So was the fish in the first pic caught?

  7. Thanks guys. That 1st pic was a spring creek Dave, Amelia and I stumbled upon trying to get to a different creek. There was a fish anywhere in the 5-8lb range every 50 yards. It was pretty incredible.

  8. I made a trip to NZ over the holidays for 5 weeks. The weather proved to be a challenge for most of the trip as it poured rain for most of the time, and I was constantly on the move to stay ahead of it. I was fortunate enough to meet up with Dave and Amelia Jensen quite a bit and they helped me out immensely. The last 1.5 weeks I got the weather I was hoping for the whole time and was able to fish some waters I had wanted to. I caught some nice fish and had a great time.

Here are some pics from my trip.
