  1. Thank Marc I can see the on my iPhone... Any idea which plug in? P

Not sure which specific extension it might be, but there are some security extensions that can disable embedded videos. If you didn't install any extensions like that then that's not it. Also guessing that if you actually go to Youtube you can watch videos no problem?

I'd start by deleting any Youtube cookies from Safari. Maybe clear your cache as well. Those are pretty much my first two steps in fixing any browser issues and they work 99% of the time especially when it's something that used to work and suddenly stopped. If those don't work another good one to try is the first aid thing from the disk utility. Should be a repair permissions option. Actually, do that anyways. It's unreal how many broken things that can fix on a Mac and even help resolve a few random errors or slowdowns.

  2. Not sure how things are going...but as far as "rope" goes....guys at Canyon rigging said there is now rope made with Dyneema (like braided fishing line) that is incredibly strong in a small diameter with a breaking strength of 50,000lb.

It's been around for a while. That's what I have on my winch.

May be a dumb suggestion, but any way the fire department would help with their water rescue crew?

From what I recall when that drift boat got sunk a couple years ago the fire dept. wouldn't come out unless life was at risk or something. I was thinking AEP might if there's gas and oil leaking from the boat into the river.

  3. Oh and take it easy with the come-along if you use one. Lots of horror stories when those break

Yes. Back when I used to off road my group didn't allow anyone to use those for recovery.

Anyhow, not sure if you can get a vehicle down to the bank since I'm not entirely sure where it is, but if it's possible and there's landowner permission I could round up a couple vehicles with winches. Safer and more powerful than a come along.

  4. I was at the TU sale and did not see it......and I DO passionately care. Just not sure that's where I would have expected to see something like that. Anyone know if TU sells it from their Calgary office?

We had it at the TU BRC table. If you want some, let me or jpinkster know. They're pump sprayers with Quat in them. We put enough of it in the sprayer that all you have to do is fill with water to get the right dilution ratio.

  5. Then the Elk....

If it's in the Crow it's almost definitely in the Elk. Just far too many people going back and forth between those two systems for it not to be. I'll still be cleaning all my gear whenever I travel between the two though just in case ;)

At some point it did spread, we do not know if thats now, or ten years ago. Regardless, there needs to be a concerted effort by the angling community to be proactive about cleaning before moving between watersheds moving forward. This is pretty obvious a human-transfer, regardless if the spread is now or 10 years+ ago, and we need to stop further spread if that is possible.

If anything this should be showing us that these things are going to spread if we're complacent. WD almost certainly came up here from people fishing in Montana. Now they also have multiple cases of quagga and zebra mussels along with this new PKX thing. If we continue to be complacent then we'll end up with those up here too.

  6. I always wondered about that..Can't the Parks Super just do a declaration...They do all the time during the summer...

Guessing that since it's a gov't agency there's probably a specific set of guidelines and circumstances where they're allowed to do that. Could be that this doesn't fall under those guidelines or they're making sure it does before they go through with it.

  7. From everything I have been fortunate enough to engage with the City of Calgary, the Provincial Government and those engineers and contractors conducting the work, I am satisfied that the best case practices are being adhered to. Admittedly they are not perfect, but reduce the impact to a minimal level.

At least someone doesn't have your same degree of blind trust:

Look, we'd all like to see this get done. It isn't about stopping it from happening. It's about making sure they don't do a disproportionate amount of damage in the process. The best laid plans can be derailed by a few contractors willing to cut corners to complete the project faster if they're already under the time constraint of the in-stream work window.

  8. If every project always worked within threshold limits then there would be no need for any regulatory enforcement/compliance. Since such a thing exists, then I'd suspect that sometimes there is a disconnect between the engineers or consultants who wrote the plans and the folks actually doing the work. Like bcube said, the only true vindication is if they show up on site after someone calls in a complaint when seeing significant turbidity and determine that they are within the thresholds.

  9. Now I'm in a quandary.....never voted anything but right wing all my life but I strongly agree with the Ndp direction in the Castle and wish they would expand it.

Well, even though I'm one of those socialist lefties I'll help you out. First, you can start by writing a letter to Mr. Jean as one of his voters stating that if he were to roll back all the changes that he would lose your vote. Second, if he does not change his stance and the WRP merges with the Conservatives you can buy a membership and support another leadership candidate - one who will not roll back the changes. Third, if you haven't already, fill out the survey stating your support for the changes. If the majority of the people who fill out the survey support the changes then no politician in their right mind would continue to say they'll roll them back. If all that fails I guess I'll see you at our next meeting, comrade :D
