  1. Me and the little boys have done out best getting payback on the brooks at Elbow Lake, they sure are a tasty fish!
  2. Oil guys on here and in general only like to discuss when a report comes out claiming scientist have overstated/manipulated the effects. They don't seem to like to write anything, when it shows that the industry is really ****ing up the environment. I use oil/gas, have no plans to stop, how can I. But don't be blind to the impact or get upset when the effects are displayed. I mentioned this article to a friend of mine in the industry, he got all pissy and went into the usual oil industry counter argument all the facts aren't out, scientist manipulate the facts, people shouldn't complain or we wouldn't have energy for everyday use. I get production will have an impact, here and across the world, I'm not an idiot, but buck up and just admit what your doing up north is having a huge impact on the health of the environment.
  3. Fishing a creek last year, a intoxicated lady(35) approached me and my dad & stated this was her grandmothers land and we should leave. My dad let her know about the water rights and so we continued with the hole. She comes back 10 min later in a bathing suit and starts swimming the hole, kicking her legs all around while stating again this his their land. My dad keeps telling her if she gets a hook in the leg it ain't our fault. So we give up the deep hole and move further down, she stops swimming and drives her van down to the creek and starts honking the horn non stop. This lady was off her rocker and not the owner, but as long as you don't touch their property there should be no issue, it's kind of similar to people who are pissed because you parked infront of their house.
  4. I don't post much, but the arrogance on here lately about rivers being overcrowded is for lack of a better word stupid. It's ok to be frustrated with the increase of anglers, but due to the increase in AB's pop, people are going to go out and fish and by chance, hit your spot, or they could have been hitting that stretch before you were even born. I don't think you should share your exact spot (fishermans code), but I will tell someone what decent to big sized systems are good. Some of the posts make it seem like "only me a my buddies, true fly fishermen should fish this river" The only things you should have issue with is, 1. Are angles following the regs 2. Are they respecting the system and cleaning up after themselves 3. Are they respecting your area
  5. Damn that is a sweet catch!!!!!, what province was that in?, the stream doesn't look big enough to support a fish that size
  6. Not sure how the Kooteney is, but the Columbia has some giant bows, vis might still be an issue there to.
  7. From the bowriverblog.com Catch and Release Information Here at the Bow River Blog I always practice catch and release. I do not eat fish on a regular basis so for me there is no reason to keep my catch. I would like to provide you with some important guidelines on how to properly release trout after they have been hooked and somewhat tired out. After I have landed the fish I will do several things to prevent the fish from dying. The first thing I do is keep the fish in the water at all times if possible and remove the hook from its mouth without ever removing the fish from the water using hemostats or pliers. If that is not possible than, I will first wet my hands making sure to keep the trout’s protective coating intact. I hold the fish with two hands so the fish doesn’t flop out of my hands and land hard onto the ground. After I have gently removed the hook with the “push back and turn method” I gently place the fish back into the water. When handling the fish, be sure you keep your hands well clear of the Trout’s gills. Now gently face the fish upstream with its nose pointing upriver and not downstream. I then very slowly move the fish a little back and forth to get the water to flow through its gills again. As I start to feel the fish’s tail kick, I will then let go of the fish and let it swim away. Remember to never let a fish flop around on the ground as this may very well kill the fish. Also remember to never squeeze a fish to hard either, this adds extra stress to the fish and can also be fatal. And lastly, never throw a fish back into the water like an old boot, gently lower the fish into the water and give it enough time to properly get its breath.
  8. Hey Rickr, here is the link for the Kootney region, http://env.gov.bc.ca/fw/fish/pdf/fish-syno...-08_region4.pdf, I was going to stick to the areas of 4-27-26-34, which doesn't leave much for river and streams, either the Duncan river or Columbia for me, but I am going to try and get some local advice, headed there to my condo in Pano on Wednesday, so I will post how I did when I get back,
  9. Hey guys, I was trying to find info on fishing spots around Invermere, couldn't find a whole lot on the net, all I have come up with is the Columbia and Duncan river/lake, looking for something not to far from Invermere and Panorama, any other suggestions Travis
