  1. LOL, love the avatar Brent.
  2. Well, we never said it was 8lb's, who knows, didn't measure or weigh it, quick pic and back into the lake. Monger, if you caught a fish that was bigger than that fish and was around 8lbs then there must be more than 2 big fish in there. I've also caught one this year that looked about the same size as the one Gok caught but was not that one. If you caught one that was 8lbs and 26" and was not that one either then A. more brood stock were put in then Dean has said. B. Some of the large fish we were catching last year are still there and even bigger. C. I'm wrong and caught the same one as Gok (even though it looked different) making the one you caught the largest in the lake, making Dean's size estimates way off. D. One of us is full of crap. A combination of A and B would be the ideal choice. Brian, any one of us would hook you up, your friends with half of the membership.
  3. At first I thought it was naturally occuring too Max. But, the one pictured was identical on both of it's sides and we saw a few like this in the pond.
  4. Saw several rainbows today that were recently stocked that were missing part of their gill plate. Some of them just one side and others both sides of their face. Anybody know why the hatcheries do this?
  5. Gok and I spent the day out at the lake, fished through 3 rain storms, caught lots of fish. Gok got this nice one at the end of the day on his 3wt.
  6. Ya, back to work on Saturday for 4 days. Another time, next week sometime perhaps? PM me your phone # again. Check out the Bow reports section for what you missed
  7. I've floated early morning when the trout on the Bow were frequently taking dry stonefly imitations until the sun warmed up, then once the banks were noisy with hoppers I've switched to a tan parachute hopper because the action died and had great success. I think this year in particular that the hopper action is good because the stonefly action earlier on was good as well so the fish are already accustomed to looking up for a big meal ticket.
  8. Does anybody want to Float today? I am at work for another hour and then good to go. Have drift boat. Short notice but tommorow and Friday look crappy. PM me.
  9. I broke the 2nd section from the butt on a 9wt TFO a couple of years ago. Was a little shocked but when I took it to them they didn't charge me the 25 bucks and said that they've had manufacturing mixture issues in the past.
  10. Great day guys, we should do it again before the end of the season. I learned it's not how many fish you catch, it's how pissed off you can make Bigbowtrout. Fortunately he lived up to his name though. Also learned doesn't matter how tired you are and how early in the morning it is you will ALWAYS regret taking the beer out of the fridge. When I move to Airdrie we definitely gotta go for a beer at the Dogpound pub and try the picklefish.
  11. Tiana quit pretending you don't know who I am. Let me know when you want a teaching lesson.
  12. Don't Telus employees have STD and LTD plans? The employer wouldn't have any say whether benefits would continue or not, it's up to the doctor. Also, why is the Human Rights case being dismissed? That commission would be impartial. Doesn't sound like she has much of a case. I'd want to hear both sides of the story before I took any action.
  13. I bought the Mid Arbour II direct from Orvis a few months ago. Happy with it so far, 119USD plus they were throwing in a 2nd spool for free, it was a special for that month. Maybe they'll have the sale on again. Right now the Orvis Guide waders are on sale. Tallieho, is it the frame of the reel that you need or the spool? I've got an older Battenkill that the spool is warped on, if you just need the frame you can have mine. It's not pretty but it works.
  14. I've had my truck broken into at least 8 times since I got it about 3 years ago, nothing of any value ever lost. I would never keep anything valuable in there other than fly boxes, wading boots and the pile of odds and ends that others keep leaving in there. P.S.> Personally I'd like to know who would win a MILF contest, Chris or Dave's mom?
  15. LOL, agreed. So what happened to you last night?
  16. Maybe it's the beer , but I'm pretty sure your math might be somewhat flawed. Considering there are approximately 55km of river between Calgary & Caresland, and estimated 1800 to 2500 per square mile, and maybe 15% in the final year of life we are only looking at a few thousand dead trout this year. I agree that seeing a few dead trout is not unique, but seeing a few 18"-20" trout floating near the surface midday is of some concern. I guess if we were looking at seeing 150,000+ dead fish on the bow this year then so what if a few poachers get a couple or flyfisherman kill a bunch by taking too long to release them?
  17. Not sure what the temperature is but 2 days ago we saw a couple of large floating Rainbows in the lower section. Also last night/AM around 1:00am in the Carsland area even though it felt cold in the air after the thunderstorm the water felt like a warm bathtub.
  18. 1986ish - Me & my buddy got to watch Iron Maiden perform at the Centre 200 in Sydney Nova Scotia. The stadium had road crew, us, the band, and that's it. We then got to have supper with them and hangout and have a photo shoot with them. Sorry, no one will ever see the photos, not at least until they bring Mullets back in fashion.
  19. Golden trout that is Bloom & I hiked in for Golden trout last week. Check out the pics here http://www.flyfishingthebow.com/Barnabylakes.htm if your interested.
  20. I think I've only ever had Blackhorse once and can't remember what it taste like, but I didn't think they had Oland's Export in Newfoundland so I went with that. As for East versus West, I'm sure they both have their merits, the Maritimes on the other hand is in a league of it's own.
  21. The Westjet store @37th Ave N.E and Barlow Trail sells Maui Jim's. I bought a pair a few months ago and had no problems with them until a couple of weeks ago. While putting them on the frame snapped in two! I took them back and was immediately told that it was a known issue and that the Maui Jim manufacturing plant had messed up the mixture of chemicals in making the frames. They simply handed me a new pair (from a new shipment) and will be sending the others back. So if this happens to you do not hesitate to bring them back, even if the warranty says to mail them to the manufacturer.
  22. No problem, a two four of Blackhorse and your forgiven.
