  1. Looking for some High Density Polyethylene or something similiar like puck board.

    Need a 3' X 3' sheet in 10mm thickness, fir a small fabrication project.

Tried Rona, Home Depot to no avail. Internet searches turned up a few possibilities but hoping to find it locally.

If you have seen any let me know.

  2. by the way, any spots in the NW around Bowmont and Bakers Park?

I think I should just bring a heavier rod for mousing in the dark.

Unfortunately this section is closed April 1 to May 31, so you will have to fish below the weir just south of downtown.

There are a bunch of other access points for you though.

If you are worried about the park, then Bankside, on the North end of Fish creek park does not close its parking. This is just off bow bottom trail, before you enter the park "gates"

  3. i took a look at little bow and sunshine snow pack data today. On or below the low average.

Shaping up to be another low water year.

We could still get lots of moisture, but time is running out.

Will also be interesting to see if they draw down ghost as much they did last year. It was basically running its traditional river path. It was the lowest I had ever seen.

  4. I was not replying specifically to Bron, and if that is how it was read then I am sorry.

I was more so trying to point out this mistreatment of places like Mac, or the Liv, or most of the river X's in Alberta.

I was also trying to do it in a light joking kinda way which, seems like it went way south. It was not an attack.

I threw in the jet boat comment as a self depreciating joke, as I just bought one, which I am sure I will catch flak for.

Crazy thing is, I was thinking of the closed jet boat thread, and thought to myself man I hope I can be the kind of jet boat owner like Fishhead, seems like he respects the river and other river users.

Hard for intention to come across in a web post.

  5. Yes.

I am sure by now though, that some self entitled a-hole has probably cut the lock, or fence, and driven down because it's his "right" to access where ever the heck he wants to because he pays his taxes.

Then he will commence to leave his timmies garbage in a pile right beside the garbage can, burn the crapper down on his way out after having caught 10 98" trout using dew worms, because "remember, I paid my taxes"

Guy probably owns a jet boat too....

    😜

  6. I have a fishcat 9IR

extremely stable, easy to put together, so far no punctures or leaks, lots of storage, easy to row, added a small motor for lakes and battery.

Once you get used to it, you can have it built and on the river in less than 10 minutes.

Once broken down, it fits in the back of our subaru with no issues (albeit ours is a hatchback with fold down seats, but a trunk with fold down seats should be fine as well)

  7. Way too much money.

I would by a Butter Stick or Blue Halo before I would go for this system.

    Just me..

Sometimes its not about the cost, its about the process.

Catching a fish on a rod you built, is so much more meaningful.....a value that you cannot monetize.

Its why we tie flies, build rods, hike to unreachable places.

  8. I remember reading somewhere, in the proposed redevelopment of St. Patrick's island that there was a plan for a boat launch.

In the list above, I have never seen some of those gates opened to the public (example Bakers Park)

But it sure would be nice if some were.

Could you imagine the 3 day/2 night float you could do? Would be some long days, but doable, I think?
