You are gonna lose flies.. Just prepare yourself to lose them, tie simple patterns that you dont care about losing. The fish don't really care and you will catch way more fish if you are willing to throw into the spots where they live..

I do that all the time throw the bike in the back of the truck park wherever and ride the path. The Bow is amazing for access, not a spot you can't fish, and the fish seem to be everywhere... Just because no one fishes a spot does't mean its not a good spot to fish...

Loomis makes a fine rod.. You won't go wrong with it.. It will do anything you ask. True it flexes into the but a bit a bit more than the crosscurrent. But it still casts a lot of line with the right stroke..
