  1. One of the biggest embarassments for me.Is there lack luster attack,on areas that .Have been identified as having Prussian Carp,in there water impoundments.Ie City of Calgary,Harvest Hills storm water ponds,Airdrie Nose creek & on & on .Just about every watershed south of Calgary, that gets there water from the Bow river watershed.

  2. Thanks for posting..It does present an issue. That i have had ,for years. That being ice fishing,at a C&R lake. The fish, generally is caught.Dragged up onto the ice.Pictures taken[guessing].Then kicked down the hole. The article speaks to handling  & the loss of the protective slime.Well i am only surmising that the cold exposure, would definitely effect that slime.Being that it might very well be frozen.Gone is the gentle release, allowing for the fish to recoup.Just dropped into the hole. Shame to see this happening & not just on our trout lakes. What about Walleye,Pike etc.

  3. I used 2 25 lb pyramids for my old 1756 jon boat.Using scottie anchor locks, 50' of braided marine rope,11/2feet of galv.chain.When it was windy i added the same on the opposite side. So in this case 1 out front,1 on ea.corner  This boat had a lot of surface are &  ,mostly flat & close to the water.V hull you might get away with less,of course wind being the major factor...Play safe

  4. Don: May remember this.Anyways was at a mtg.in either Edmonton or Red Deer, when the chair told us of the illegal stocking of Bullhead fish,in a pond in FT.Mac[2015].F&W had to bring in a tech person from the US.Because none of our F&W staff knew how to handle Roetone. They killed of that pond off & trained appropriate{F &W] staff on the handling of Roetone. To this day the only other place that i have heard Roetoned ,were in the town of Okotoks. That town killed of a pond infested with goldfish, because they didn't want them getting into the Bow/Highwood/Sheep drainage. They did this at the towns cost..So F&W staff are trained & still no action.Why. Is it costs. Then have a habitat regeneration fund ,dedicated specifially to iradicating invasive fish species. If they are not to be in a said lake. Then action should be taken...FT.MAC eg.happened in 2 days........

  5. So how many of you took note of, his sly remarks.About possibly adding up to 2 dams between Calgary & the mountains[Bow Basin]..He claimed that is was all about flood mitigation for Calgary.I always believed there was more methodology to.There huge drawdowns ,K.Lakes & Ghost assessing these structures were part of it.They have gone against many suggestions for there so called Dry pond, west Springbank.Flooding valuable farm land.Rather than fllooding the Mclean creek area.Is part of there logic for this thinking.Flooding Mclean creek, then they have to find another area for these wknd warriors to destroy.Heck all the taxes gained from licences,OHV sales, fuel etc.Versus flooding out a few land rich farmers.Remember the 3 rivers project, water for the farmers...Getting really tired of winter

  6. Remember the post about    " Is It Time"   I had many suggestions from a lot of people.Brought these suggestions to the heads of both organizations[ACA.F&W] to where our licence fees go.The intend was to get it in writing as a proposal for a regulation change[November].It was met with ,the usual response. But i am hopeful. It appears that even the NDP,were NOT in favor of raising, licence fees, for all.Having seniors pay & utilizing these extra fees ,for aerators .In lakes that are aerated, for some that aren't .ie Bullshead   ......Hoping something comes out of the efforts

  7. Smitty; You asked about winterkill/aerators.Doubtful for both. The res. is deceptively deep.South end[dam] somewhere btwn 25-35' deep.It can be dangerous imo.The east shoreline bt launch was 10-15',but go 200' south,on east shore[bank]20+'.Years ago we fished in the back pocket, kinda south of the launch. You go along that east shore & left.Bloodworms consistent action, til the wind blew us off.I believe they started with browns,a couple of years ago.To see if they to would also persue the Prussian Carp. The addition of Tigers should present some quality angling.I think there is now 4 species of trout in there..
