  1. See my post on Ixtapa. All the info you need.
  2. Great!, Didn't know anyone offered that in town. Thanks for the link. Offer still stands for anyone that wants to get out with exp.
  3. Greetings All, Anyone with a bit of time put in drifting the bow looking to give some advice? I've got a Clacka 16LP and while I've made a few trips on the river and can get around alright, I'm looking to improve my skills and float counts (I can drop in and pivot to back out at the Policmans outtake to give an example of medium skills). Anyone out there with some madd rowing skills that are looking to get out on the water for a few days? Prefer someone who can show me the ropes of a proper drift AND give tips on fishing while on the drift. I'll cover the shuttle costs and provide the boat. If you're a guide and looking to get out on the water to fish some on your days off I would of course pay you for your time. Thanks All,
  4. These Costco Champion Gens are very loud. Where I Random camp a few people have them and you can tell who is running one from a considerable distance. Hondas are nice, but very $$, The Yamaha's I have heard are kind of middle of the road. Price and Db's.
  5. I agree, If anyone is interested in looking into that pm me. But what a great deal on the boat for the day! What is the cost of getting some rowing lessons with the boat for a day? Thanks! ( pm if you prefer)
  6. WoW! Less the 24 Hrs and lots of great replies!! Thanks! I will be sure to check out all the reels everyone mentioned! and Def. make use of that coupon if I go with Ross! I like the reviews on that Orvis Mirage, and price point isn't bad either (from what i've seen in the US websites) - anyone have first hand experience? Also what is everyones thoughts on the Sage 4580? - Seems to be quite open to me, nice looking but it would be a bugger is the wind or myself got the line tangled Inside of the reel! and whats with the geared drag system? 3.1 - is that a common thing?
  7. PM SENT!! - and thanks again!!
  8. I will have to also admit I have used the TFO warranty for the tip of my Axiom, but it was not the rods fault a gust of wind and a truck door claimed that one.
  9. I have another post running asking advice on 8wt rods and have had some excellent opinions/ advice, so I thought I might as well throw out a reel advice poll too. I've been eyeing up a Ross Vexsis #4 (7-9wt) - Any thoughts? I need something Saltwater ready and around $400, So nothing top of the line and nothing too cheap either. All opinions / advice welcome! Thanks in advance!
  10. Great Replies! Thanks everyone!, I will be sure to take the advice of hitting up the fly expo and trying some out!. Thanks Harps for the chart!, My budget will start around half way down the list!.. I have heard rumors of TFO breakage but I have yet to witness one first hand. I wondering if they are adressing this issue. Anyone have any experience with Albright?
  11. By the sounds of things its a good thing!, Anyone have first hand recommendations for non-felt sole boots?
  12. Nice Work!, Great Vids as always. Thank You!!!
  13. I know of a couple people that have had work done in Mazatlan, said they were really good and also saved a tonne of $$. I can can more info if still needed.
  14. Just looking for advice on my next addition to my fly fishing arsenal, I'm looking to purchase an 8wt rod set up, I'm looking for opinions on what to buy, I'm eyeing something around or under $400 so nothing tooo fancy. Just an average GOOD rod. So far i'm looking at a TFO Ticr-x and a Sage Flight - 8wt's 4 pc. in a 9'0" The rod will be used for Bones and maybe the odd striped bass and / or salmon. (multi-use until I can get a specific rod for each) I now use a 5wt TFO Axiom for the bow - just to get an idea of what I'm used to. Any and all opinions are welcome and ALL rod suggestions too - not just the couple above. Thanks!
  15. I own 4 pairs of Oakleys including the "shallow" and "deep" fishing specific lens and IMHO they don't hold a candle to Costas - best sunglasses on the market. (but thats only my 2 cents) Costa's are a wear all day and not notice they are there kind of thing.
  16. Thanks for all the quick reply's!, and that link posted was great!, Thanks Uberfly!, Also what knot is everyone using to tie your tippet to tippet?, I've only ever fished the single nymph and with very limited success!, So say I have a San Juan on the bottom, and then 18-20" up I'm going to tie off another bit of tippet, to tie on another nymph. What knot is used to tie that tippet to your main tippet?.. ( I think I'm making this confusing, I apologize) and also how long should that tippet coming off my main tippet be?. If anyone understands what I'm asking I will be thoroughly impressed. Thanks again!!
  17. Greetings To All!, I'm a newbie to this fly fishing fun for just over a year now, Some success, but mostly not very much of it. I have been a member here for a few months now and have been reading non stop. and it seems every question I come up with its been covered here somewhere in full detail. (Hence why I've been a quiet learner in the corner without any posts.) Anyways, Its time to start posting and join in on this fun!, I am just wondering what knots everyone is using out there?, I'm sure this has been covered in a few posts before, but I'm wondering about tying up a nymph rig. What knots should I be using throughout the rig? Thanks to everyone on this board, you have made alot of days fishing a little easier for this beginner!, Just need to start getting into a few more fish! My record is HORRIBLE! and I will be the first to admit to have a case of the Bow River Blues!
